Did a tidy up.of the valve cover on the moggy, it is a brighter green but will age up in time sadly.i had to rivet the badges on with blind rivets for now but i think i have found the correct factory ones.

This Nife Batteries Safety Lamp cam my way the other day.
It even came with its double wet cell battery pack.
It looks in a bad state and it was.
One of the cells had spilt and the acid migrated into all places posible.
It has attacked the circuit board, it was safed and the base of the torch.
A suitable replacement bulb was fitted, this is a 9v item.
As the original battery pack is dead a new PP9 will be used.
Not the best image, but the bulb is lit.
The acid damaged can be seen, as the black stain.

This was meant to be a bit of trench art. But is soon became clear it was not. But it is Arts and Crafts, oh well.
But as a nice simple project, at MIS, for a new members to break there teeth on doing a simple restoration.
We made a new punch to reshape the "dimples". It was a learning curve on how much force to use. The brass is very thin and we tried dressing the biger dimples back. But yiu could see it beginning to split.

I got this oil pump for £1. I got it for the following reasons.
It should be good for odding steam oil to my steam engines.
It was meant to be a simple restoration project for MIS.
But...............
Common sense and logic said:
It must come to bits.
It was a pain. The top cap was glued on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Using warm Nail polish remover and a nylon jawed adjustable we had it in bits
The real issue is a p1$$ poor repair od the seal.
That is a bit of rubber. Badly cut and shaped.
New washer was made.
Assembled, polished and tested.
This money bax came my way.
The conternts.
Finished.

This dirty old box came my way.
The contents.
A nice set of Taps and square dies, with holders.
The out side of the box was drenched in oil, the hinges were fitted with too big screws. This had split the wood.
The wrenches were cleaned up with wire wool, steeped in bee's wax. Then in the heat of the day a clear bee's wax/oil was applied.
The taps and dies were cleaned and polished with wax.
The box was cleaned with warm water and washing soda. Allowed to dry and then scrubed with meths.
Given a good sanding and a sanding sealer applied.
Then 4 coats of French polish

No.Do you use the MIS as slave labour for your projects !
This weekend was about new members who have "health issues". They never been involved restorations.
My play pen is away from the main MIS, but it is approved for limited use and visits.
Beinga way from the main shed they can get involved with out "busy Bodies, "You tube experts" and the rest.
Has they get into the swing of things I am drinking coffee, advising and doing my own stuff.
When did they stop using young humans as cheep work force?
