Is using using Linux an option maybe on an older machine?....I don't use it myself but I've heard its a lot less fussy about what it runs on.
Same here but I'm forced to move with whatever OS my customers prefer...a lot stayed on Win7 for quite a while but now they've all moved and so must II'v got a few machines sitting around running happily 24/7 in win7 I prefer win7 to win10 tbh
also the same both win 7 and also sp1 update as wellI'v got a few machines sitting around running happily 24/7 in win7 I prefer win7 to win10 tbh
I know. You said already. Many times.also the same both win 7 and also sp1 update as well
the system is reliable and stable dont have to put up with updates that can crash or cause errors like windows 10
@skotl no i dont like windows 10, I dont like tabs if i want tabs i wil buy a tablet or phone instead.
or the we will update when we want to on your system
I certainly didnt like the enforced win 10 update through the windows updates that installed nagware to upgrade to windows 10 or the forced install onto users machines without the consent of the user
I've found that the best solution is to but a cheap SSD such as this;OK I am still working on some suggestions but I need to clone a disk.
I used to use Acronis but whilst I still have the serial numbers the download links have expired.
I decided to go the easy route and got a cloning box of amazon but sadly it does not seem to clone my disks. Probably as one is a sata 1 tera byte and the other is an SSD 500 but hey I tried.
So now looking for a quick way of cloning one disc to another the easy way. I really would like to keep the original format of the disk as its factory installed windows so it should be an easy recovery to factory settings.

Yep. I am actually using a program on a free trial using the external Dock. It won't do a clone without a PC but it appears to work cloning using software , but it's insanely slow.do you have a normal pc you can plug the drives into? how are you cloning them right now? external dock?
I actually purchased 2 Crucial MX500 as they were 30 quid and the cheap ones were 21 quid anyway.I'd skip the cheap SSD and get a better one, not much soct difference for a pretty good reliability/preformance boost
something like

how is the dock plugged in? is it plugged into a slow usb port? have any uisb3 ports? (blue ones) ?
I think I.already purchased Acronis True image but it's probably an old version now.acronis for me I might play with free software but if its good enough i will advise to buy it
the ssd hard drives i was buying wasnt up for sale out of stock, i was offered the crucials so had them stat checked in the shop
i ended up walking out with the lexars x3 and a 4tb
Calling any/all PC builders..
I'd be looking at samething like this + a SSD + a pair of 30" HD tellies. Spend the other 300 if you need to - extra ram, or another HD (or rum. I like rum) No linkwww.mig-welding.co.uk
Dock is plugged in via the front ports on a desktop.how slow?
