Seriously. Download Linux Mint. Burn to DVD and boot it from that. No need to install it just to try.
If it suits install if not nothing lost. 20yrs with Linux. Would never go back to MS.
But it's down to personal choice.

Like I say it's personal choice. It is so much like MS Windows that there's no learning curve. But if you've paid out in 3rd party software then it's always an issue. There are ways to run most in Linux but not all. I run Win10 in Virtualbox but that's about it. Win 11 complains that it doesn't meet requirements. But as it's a virtual machine it isn't surprising. Just as an indication my missus is certainly not a computer expert. Took Win7 off her laptop and installed Mint and the only issue she had was getting used to it not crashing.

ohhhh you aren't trying to install 64bit windows on a 32bit system are you? that does what you're describing

the cpu points to an am3 cpu which is upgradeable mainboards used both ddr2 and ddr3 memory its why i want to know your mainboard

a quick look up and its roughly saying not windows 10 compatable

you can down grade it though windows 7-8-8.1 are still fine for it

another note here im not a lover of ga mainboards they are not really that realiable asus and some other mainboards was much more realible

i have the asus am3 cpu and mainboard myself running on windows 7 offline and another also running windows 7 both have a x6 core in them there fast enough

Asus was a MB of choice when I was building lots of PCs. The high end Acer laptop was a pig to get inside of. Lots of microscopic screws (to me nowadays). The Lenovo build is brilliant. 2 Screws and the base slides off. Plus detailed manual on disassembly.

i had foxconn x64 myself, the only board that supported dual gcard at x16 dual the rest of them halfed the speed between them x8 when split made one hell of difference

computer supplier near me main one the guys and ladies was all discussing what it had on it as they hadnt seen it as they was a big crowd around the guy bringing it out

other than that boot up from a diagnostic usb and run diagnostic stuff, memtest86 ec.

i have a sparehd but as 7 has no security updates for quite a while im not sure thats a good idea if only for a quick test

ive run a burn in test a week ago run fine for 3 hours and did not over heat or such

and ive tryed 2 sets of ram as well

Nothing wrong with windows 7. It's the lack of updates that's the issue really.

if was for home use id not worry but as its for work stuff its more to see if having a faster pc will make a differance to viewing and swaping cameras will it be faster
that then will tell us ifd its worth spending money on an upgrade

to a degree its right but not with other software

its only the operating system however you can still pick up the certain updates from windows

firefox/opera is still updated
so is firewalls and antivirus programs
theres plenty of other software thats still uses windows 7 and they are updated

windows 8 and 8.1 is still being updated but will run out of updates soon enough

windows 10 will cease to update after 2025 but may run security updates after this

Windows 10 users needn't fear ISO-lation as downloads end

Microsoft pulls the plug as of January 31, alternatives are easy to find

at the moment buying a new pc is expensive due to covid issues

the prices was cheaper to buy new

theres a big corporate push to push you upto windows 11 more so that means you need brand new pc parts at expensive prices at the moment its not worth it

just remember your camera software might not work on windows 11 so check first it will be the same with other software as well

only thing i can see with windows 11 with all the specs you need to have is its a way of them making more money they not made as much over the last 10 years as windows 10 was free

now prices are high and them changing the specs everybody who buys a pc again because if this the manufacture will have to buy a licance for windows
