Review Jasic Pro Cut 80

I was looking at the Camozzi filters today that we’ve got at the plasma table.

There’s a 25 micron In the regulator, 1 micron then 0.1um.

The one I have fitted now is supposedly 0.01µm which I can believe when I looked up the price

Trafimet should be a much better quality torch.

Yes, top quality stuff and the sad thing is I can't use it even though I have loads of consumables. Maybe if I live another 5 years and the Jasic does too, then I will be able to try it out

What’s to stop you running the torch? Is it not plug and play? Do you have to hack into the Jasic to run it?

I would have to swap pins around but my big fear would be I forget, post a video and some Jasic person sees it and...
The Trafimet is also only 65 Amps rated but that would be an issue for the torch if I forgot to turn down the current or at least I would imagine it would only be the torch that would melt.

Aluminium cuts well, you don't get the really smooth edge finish like you do on steel but it does clean up very easily with a flap disc if you are going to be welding it.
I have found steel to be the easiest to cut, aluminium the next and stainless the worst.

The Jasic is still performing very well and the fast pierce still makes me smile.
Cut up two sheets of 5mm Aluminium today, set the pierce to 0.5seconds and feedrate of 3000mm/min.

I have one partially built but can't get the free time to dismantle the current table and put this in its place and do the rest of the alterations needed

To be fair to the old table, it used to work well but I have 4 years worth of metal dross in the tray and a lot of the smoke is coming from that, it must weigh a few tonnes more now than when it was made

Cutting up some 4mm 5083 and upped the speed a bit from what I would normally cut at. Seemed to go fine at 6000mm/min, possibly could go even faster. I am liking the Jasic very much, sadly my old copy of windows movie maker seems to screw up the sound. The original video sound is good but as soon as I save the movie it is distorted Anyone know of a free, and more importantly, simple to use alternative? I have tried a few and they are overly complicated.

Every day I get more impressed with the Jasic. I have been upping the speeds considerably from what I used previously and still going fine, the pierce speed however is the thing that amazes me the most, much much quicker than the TecArc was for some reason.

Pic below of some Aluminium I cut today, the 8mm was cut at 3,000mm/min and the 6mm was cut at 6000mm/min.
Now all I need is to find time to get the new table finished.

It is just a limit switch, got the idea from someone on the Mach3 forum, not sure if he had seen it somewhere or not, think he is on here as well. He used a normal micro switch with the metal lever but I had a Telemecanique limit switch spare so I used that.

So you got a pneumatic ram going down, detecting the surface then and offset in x & y ?
How does it sense the height of the material, that is what i dont understand ...... ?

Yes I just have a macro written and it moves to the correct position, fires the solenoid, moves down and use the probe signal in Mach to detect the surface.

Pic of my screenset with the DROs for entering the values that the macro looks for. This is not strictly needed as these values could be entered hard coded into the macro but it is easier if you ever change things such as probe or torch height or whatever, saves having to edit the macro.

I was more interested in the measurement system. Is there a someting to measure the movement of the actuator when it goes down and touches the surface ?

I use a simple hall effect sensor on head that moves the torch up and down, and there is a 4mm travel. I might upgrade to ohmic sensing once i get the Jasic.

That is the reason I had the DROs on screen so I could easily alter values. For the initial set up probe I just did the probe and set a pierce height of say 10mm and measured how high the torch actually was, I could then alter the Z Offset DRO on the screen and that was it right.
