Review Jasic Pro Cut 80

10mm Alu is probably pushing a 40Amp plasma a bit too much, especially if it is one of the cheaper types. I think I saw somewhere you said it was a 40Amp anyway but maybe I am getting mixed up.

My TecArc 65 was 28mm on steel but I found 20mm Alu was about the max it would play nicely with. I don't often do more than 12mm, occasionally 16mm and very rarely 20mm so it was fine for me, we will see what the Jasic can do in due course.

The reason it is on a stand is to make it higher because my knees are knackered, putting drawers in it would have served no purpose because they would never get used as I dislike the pain bending my knees when not required

@bR39Da where did you get the air cooler? I have been looking around for one but they are bleeding expensive.

Second job with the Jasic, some 8mm steel.
Pierce is definitely much quicker than the TecArc, cut quality seems to be as good as the TecArc so far anyway.

Aye, have seen new ones for about £800 or so, not sure the CFM but I only need a max of 14 anyway, in fact I don't even need that as that is what my compressor is and the plasma doesn't use anything like that.
I did see a Polish made one a bit cheaper, think around about £4-500 but how good they will be I have no idea. Spent far too much recently so I think I will give them a miss for the moment.

Decided to try piercing and cutting some 20mm steel. The first cut I didn't give it enough dwell for the pierce (2 seconds) and the slag is heavy all the way but it is cut through. The second one I gave it 3 seconds pierce and it actually only needed about 2.5 seconds. There is still a bit of slag but it knocked off relatively easily and as the steel is manky it is not a brilliant test.
I was only set to 70 Amps as that was the size nozzle I had in, the feedrate was 300 and I reckon I should have been a bit faster.

So far it seems to be on par with the TecArc but with much faster piercing. No complaints so far but it is early days.

Not done a huge amount of cutting but consumable life doesn't seem great. It could be a couple of things, the cutter is an 80 Amp but the consumables I got were 40-70Amp ones so I was setting the plasma to 70 Amps but when I clamped the work lead yesterday it was actually 76Amps. Doesn't sound a lot but I know when I slightly reduced the current on the Tecarc my consumable life went up by at least 4 times.

The other thing is this torch/consumables seem extremely sensitive to moisture in the air, I have always had occasional spurts of moisture through the torch but the Trafimet didn't seem to mind too much but this torch just kills nozzles at the slightest bit.

It could be combination of the slightly higher current and the moisture but because of this I will have to order the next size up nozzles and I have also just ordered a refrigerant dryer, I am in severe pain due to the money that has been leaving my pockets recently

Just check your pockets for holes

I am convinced that I have some, holes that is, never seem to find any money in my pockets, when I ask the 'boss' she never seems to be without a note or two. She is also quite willing to give up a note or two when I justify what it is for

My pockets can have as many holes as they want as it never gets as far as my pockets, customers put directly into my bank account and bills get paid as soon as they do and I get left with nothing

Two of the pocket drainers arrived yesterday.
First was the air dryer.

All I have to do now is work out how I will connect it up, the instructions are not exactly comprehensive and mention you need to use a pre filter but no info on exactly what they need, just that it has to be at least 10µm.
Will likely be later in the week before I get a chance to hook it up.

Also got the hand torch I bought from @bR39Da , I was surprised to see it was a 12m rather than the standard 6m you usually get, the jasic manual has mention of longer than 6m possibly causing issues due to voltage drop but if the worst comes to the worst I can shorten it. Brought the torch home last night so that I could swap the pins around in the euro connector to suit the Jasic, that is a simple thing to do in these euro connectors, just pull the wire terminal out from the inside then grip the outside with pliers and pull them out then it is reverse procedure for refitting into the new position.

That would be handy, especially the filter if you have one.
I was going to be using a filter I had lying around but it is just the normal style so not sure if it will suffice or not.
