I bit the bullet and peeled back the rubber on my Canon Autozoom 814 to expose some screws and figure out why it's not working.



As suspected, the handle/battery compartment connects to the camera with a slip-ring arrangement, and as suspected there was no power at the contact, so clearly a fault in the handle. Got that apart and couldn't find anything wrong with it, put it back together and it works just fine.

Now to figure out how to develop it. It came with an exposed roll of Afga Moviechrome, maybe it has something naughty on it.

100 bags of rubble stored in the back garden, first 10 taken to the tip, all to do now is to take enough base out so its at the right grade and then pour concrete....

Well found a big rather important looking bolt loose in the depths of the bobcat and discovered it's what holds the back end of the drive pump to the engine frame!

Went to put it back but the washer fell into the void of 1" thick mud/grease/oil and ain't getting found anytime soon so drilled a random thick bit of aluminium and with some shoving my hand shoulder deep up it's rear farmer style whilst doing a one arm pullup to lever the pump into position it's fixed!
Couldn't feel the bolt hole at all with gloves so gave up on them and now all the pores and creases on my hands are permanently tattooed with decades of grime despite scrubbing for 10 minutes...

After spending several hours yesterday put the steering assembly back together after flipping the wear blocks I adjusted the positions today and now it actually centers the levers and doesn't creep anymore!

I did have a 40mm thick 1m² gym mat originally but it sucked up all the rain so looked like I say in a bucket full of water

It's the same at most farms. If you have an empty shed it is used for livestock or feed storage and machinery lives outside!

My nieces husband built a machinery shed this year. He failed the TB test and couldn't sell any stock for 4 months, just as calving season was starting.
The machinery shed became a calf shed for 70 calves, all getting hand reared!

Cheap submersible pond pump fitted as a coolant pump to the bandsaw. Works pretty well for £15. Even wired it in properly to the motor so it comes on and off automatically after a few initial test cuts.
