Could you let me know when they’re on offer again pleaseI wait for Cutwel to have a sale on the YG Prime powder metal ones, they are excellent.
One thing I learnt after years of always wanting variety in work, is that when it comes to making money repetition is king. It'll pay for itself I'm sure.Ive bought a vevor tapping arm after being pleased with my dro’s and a 10” 3 jaw chuck which is very good despite being £100 delivered.
The tapping arm came in a timber box which was a good sign . Initial inspection is very good quality and looks very similar to one a pal bought from machine dro for £1200 plus
The vevor was £350ish delivered
I’ll report back after I do a job shortly with 200 m12 threads

They are ok but one thing stands out is the extra long cutting flute length, they feel weaker
I have been converted to Zoro Swisstech taps, very low cutting force and nice to use. They seem to put prices up after I buy them this is my collection

It’s the geometry of the 2 parallel arms isn’t it? The 2 long arms being the same length and the 2 shorter uprights being the same creates a parallelogram effect - with one end being held upright the other short end stays upright too.How does the tapping arm/head stay parallel?
As @daleyd said, a parallelogram with first parallel in a fixed position vertical from the moveable arm, this fixes the head axis vertical as well. Tapping head is parallel to this axis. How does the tapping arm/head stay parallel?

His design used a parallelogram to ensure the piston rod of a steam engine stayed vertical/horizontal while the crank rotated - but I think the basic parallelogram mechanism like the tapping arm had been known about for a long time before that though.James Watt?
I’m going to make (modify)some countersinks to fit the tapping chuck but I reckon it would make a excellent sensitive drilling armWell in that case I think Im going to buy or make one! Should work as a light duty drill press if I make up a sliding, cordless powered spindle to go on the end?
I have very little space but this looks like it would suit being attached on the welding bench.
That's what I am.hoping. lolI’m going to make (modify)some countersinks to fit the tapping chuck but I reckon it would make a excellent sensitive drilling arm
I can see the attractions of these things if mounted on an old mag drill baseWhat sensible maximum hole size could I expect from this Vevor before it starts to bend/rattle about? The base would be solidly bolted to about 60kg of bench.
I cant be bothered with air so spindle would be cordless powered.
