Today I acquired a SW Motech centre stand that I ordered on Christmas day with some money I got.
It was supposed to be in stock but heard nothing until I called them last week, there had been a mix up and there was no stock but more would be in soon.
Took 10 minutes to fit
Means I don't have to use the Abba SkyLift for chain maintenance etc

You can still trade power for speed, especially on the return stroke of the cylinder and on the unloaded part of the forward stroke - it's all a matter of clever circuitry (and some valves, etc., but you can find them used) - it's fantastic what you can do with hydraulics.

Another camera
Canon 700d, actually a decent spec
24-105 lens, fixed f5.6 (with 4 stop image stabilisation doesn't need to be any faster) 35mm and 50mm prime, genuine hoods, decent flash with ettr and auto focal length and loads of filters and bits in a decent bag
£200
Will be useful to chuck in the van or a backpack when I dont want a 5d or a 7d rattling around, to be fair its more the lenses I worry about but at that price I couldn't say no

Not much stuff found today.
But some bits I will use and find usefull.
This smart Little plane is the subject of another post.
The file handles, 10p for the pair. The weight of them is shocking. A very dense wood.
A old oil can.
A Rabone Caliper rule. Needs a polish and is good to go.
The oil can.
A Singer Pie Crust Oil can, a hard to find in working order.
A nice odd bit of history.
The whole lot is 3"high.
The "kettle" is fluid tight.
The base is not.
The use.
The base or "mug" held charcoal and in the kettle went solid wax concetrate dye.
When the wax dye was liquid and small amount was used to make a batch of dye up.
This was worth every penny spent
1950's 2 wick Meths burner for early Mamods.
Original rubber cork, in white. It is shot.
The burners are cotton rope wicks.
It is fuel tight as well.
This is why I spent money.
It fits the Mamod I got the other day.

Same here.
For years I went the budget route with work shoes
and have rarely felt comfortable enough in them with my feet
(except of course the protective boots for chainsaw work in the forest).
Now I have found a good deal on S3 shoes from one of the leading manufacturers here:
Of course, I also wonder which was the decisive work step on the things that legally just allows to label them Made in Germany - the imprint on the tongue, packing in the box, threading the laces into exactly one eyelet?
Wouldn't a significant part of the production be done in countries with lower wages and cost of living ... no special offer would make them affordable here ....
Anyway: These make the feet feel good for the time beeing

Fired the camera up this morning
3Gb memory card and that was soon formated.
2 new batteries and it works a charm.

Compacts like that are usually under rated or discarded due to "not enough megapixels"
In reality they are often better than most phones (yes I know, your phone camera is awesome) but they use ai and processing to achieve it, blown up or viewed on a calibrated monitor most phone camera pics look like phone camera pics, and the new ai bokeh modes just look wrong
Compare a shot taken on an f1.4 50mm lens and a phone camera with fake bokeh and you will see what I mean
