Save from the scrap man...dropped some timber of to my mate for his log burner and spotted he had put these out for a scrap man,
I think the geared sharpener felt quite nice and the scales worked but could do with a good clean up, I didn't see and makers names yet.

After 48 hours in a mix of washing powder and citric acid powder i gave the scales a clean off and brushed some vactan on, Then sprayed with satin black paint and gave the face a polish and lacquered it.

Minor surgery the doc said to remove a splinter of brass.

I thought for a moment when I saw the pic that that wire brush had rebelled and turned on you. That would have been nasty too.

If I get splinters etc I did them out with a needle - sometimes they give up easily, others not so much.

This was a shard about 4mm long and had worked its way from palm to thumb over the years. In December it decided to fester, not the uncle kind. The pressure then forced it into the knuckle.

It was a pain in the neck. No it was a buggerance. For ages it would be silent. Then it would amble away and it would be a pain. For years the "Docs" said it would works it's way out. But The "Doc" said we will remove it. oddly it was wrapped round a tendon. Hence the long cut.

I've only ever had one bit I had to take out and that's because it was ms and was going orange in my hand all the ally and stainless was just left alone

Not today, a while ago. Now my workshop turns out to have a meddings and a fobco pillar drill, and I have a startrite, so I'm figuring out what to do with it! Just fitted a new z section belt, it had an A section that rubbed on the guard on its lowest speed, and it has no on off switch, just starts when its plugged in!

thats what i use as an extractor fan when welding in the garage.

good for blasting sawdust all over the neighbours cars, as well.

Yep, Pollard Corona. Even got the original guards, and its quiet too. Bought it a month ago and its been sat waiting for me to build a bench in the shed, and now I have drills coming out of my ears! I had a beautiful corona pillar drill way back when, with a four speed motor and power feed. They are really beautifully made.

The "boot was pretty full, both with buyers, sellers and those charity chuggers. Oh well.



New, unused Bits. The rust is a light surface covering.



A Decent putty knife. I use them for mixing body filler. Plus scraping old wax and grime from the tools I restore.



SDS bits and a SDS conversion chuck. I wanted the chuck, but the trader would not split, so I got a few drills.





Old Pruning saw, Old, rusty, but sharp. There is a name on the handle and I can see Bristol stamped on it as well.




Marking gauge, well really a cutting gauge. The blade is sharp and for £0:20p.



A Wooden Compass Plane, the blade is in the de-rusting tank.

Oh yes, I had to pay for breakfast, that was the expensive part.

Also the aggressive Charity chuggers, one even tried to hold on to a selling, moving moved on.

Yeah - all guhring, they were “rescued” from the swarf at the bottom of jigs in a factory where he used to work. This is the second or third lot I’ve had off him, but he’s since retired so i think that’ll be it now, but I’ve got enough to last
