Today I acquired the Freedom of Fridays.
Last week I worked my very last Friday before retirement.

So for a lazy day I changed a Series Land Rover's gearbox.


If this is what retirement is going to be like, I should have done it 45 years ago !

Hammer grease

Good for those hammer drills not for some hammers like Bosch and Hilti wich actually use oil that resembles very thick transmission fluid

You can't beat a proper brass clamp.

You can do by bolting the lead to a little bit of flat stock and weld it to your work.
Clamps gets hot and screw type can get loose and seize

I've decided to start an argument with mom

I've enjoyed a lot the process of repairing and customize my ICS M4A1
So I've looked for another one

Same exact configuration of mine but newer

Carabine length, full metal, standard stock and carrying handle on top.
It needs a new hop up chamber.
And I'll rewire it to have the battery in the buffer tube.

Maybe I've bought two of them
Sportline series so plastic receivers and rails.
Fully working but I'll replace the plastic bits with metal ones.

I'll replace the fixed CAR15 stock with butter tube and telescoping stock
200 euros for both and I've addresses my birthday present

The eye-hole is drifted in and tidied up by hand forging, which makes me think that it was a custom modification by the owner, likely in either an agricultural or railway environment.

More likely for someone who worked at heights and didn't like dropping their screw driver so drilled it and tied it to themselves via a cord through the hole . We used to ties spanners up like that when working on cranes & tanks/ powerpacks engines incase we dropped them inside just as we'd about to finish the job.

Today after 1/2 an hour on the international paid for by eBay phone call I acquired the ground shattering knowledge that :- After several month of trying ... & numerous eBay phone contact calls .

If you have ever used an email address on eBay account for any reason including a temporary account that is now suspended whilst you are trying to sort out a crashed computer they will not let you use any of them again to get back with your original eBay account name . they require you to reset up using your old account name and a completely new original email address.

A dormer 7/16 taper shank drill and a set of 1/2" bsf taps (i only wanted the 1st and 2nd to go with the one i had from 6ply, but they were 6 quid for a set) for a grand total of 8 quid. Sadly didn't find anything else i wanted this time
