Today I acquired a brazing hearth and a rather nice Viceroy grinder

I recall those items from my school days.
The grinder was used with a heavy oil to re-grind wood working blades.

whats theflamefast run off propane or natural gas .if natural u can run them off propane but there a bit finiky to light the price of jets if u want to convert cost a fortune

The heart was in the metal working class rooms, coal gas I think.
The grinder in one of the wood working rooms.
Back when at school you were allowed to make stuff.

could have got a viceroy grinder given last year for nowt. not much use for one having grinders belt and disk sanders/ just takes room up I think the motor got took of it and the rest chucked away

Been a busy day but i cam back with a Bostich nailer and 9000 + nails and a leg vice, nice piece of ally, big roll of plastic, some signs and a small cast iron wheel from a smashed lathe, The nailer and nails were paid for the rest was skip fished.

EBay lousy with them. Just look up either "Pagoda pulley" or "Stepped pulley" and you'll see shedloads of different ones in a range of pulley cluster diameters , Center Bore sizes, and belt specs. And most of them for less than you'd spend to buy the raw alloy bar stock to make your own here in the UK.

A 50% price rise is not good but even at £24, still not expensive. I need to re measure my spindle, it was only yesterday and I have forgotten the size already, what ever the imperial size near to 22mm is.

7/8" is 22.225mm. For anything closer you'd be gettin into 128ths of an inch. But they're available in metric and imperial bore sizes so it shouldn't be too hard to find one that fits your needs...... Though once you work out what size range and bore diameter you need it could be worth slapping a request on the "Used Equipment Wanted" section here as its the sort of thing most people would salvage off an old machine before skipping the bulky bits.what ever the imperial size near to 22mm is.

It is a real shame that machines like that are no longer used.
A few years ago I was doing a service in a school.
The design and Tech. department was in the old Metal Class room. The machines were all covered over and a picture was on the frame work telling the students what it is, what it was sued for and why it is not used.
