You mean carronade? A cannonade is a burst of gunfire, a carronade is a type of cannon.

He was a Matelot , but had Radar-directed auto-firing weapons , carronades existed well before Ardy's time in the Andrew.

I have some white rubber hockey pucks that I sometimes use to support things that I'm working on, but for the fuel tank the foam needs to be pretty soft, and the pads actually cover quite a bit of area. Here's a drawing showing the general shapes of the pads. A couple of the pads have tabs that wrap around the edges of the tank.

A thick yoga mat might do the trick.
