Stuff you have fixed today

Iffy . It's OK ish, not too bad when warmed up, but harder going as range of motion / stiffness intrudes. It's not as bad as it was for sure - the worst is as soon as you rest or stay in one position it stiffens up. As you can see - I didn't achieve a heck of a lot, but felt knackered by the time I finished & packed up.

Roofing is much easier with a helper.

Did you use sarking felt where it drops into the gutter? You need lats at the bottom too, assume you know, but if you dont!

Our fridge freezer keeps leaking water. I had a quick look at the evaporator in the bottom a few weeks ago and it had obviously not seen water for a long time. Simple, just clean out the drain in the back of the fridge, no not quite so simple, its a frost free dual humidity zone fridge and the drain isn't visible.

The missus decided to call out an engineer as I was distracted in the workshop

I kept an eye on him so I could find out how he got into the back of the fridge as access wasn't obvious. He used a hot air gun to defrost what I think is the condenser and unfreeze the drain. My knowledge of fridges tends to be limited to drinking the beer that it keeps cool.

He fixed it briefly but it happened again a few weeks later.

So my turn. I think this is the condenser thingamabob that keeps the fridge frost free. But its frozen up. This is behind a panel you access from inside the fridge.

As is the drain hole

And this bit of metal was hanging around.

I believe it hangs off the bottom pipe and should be in the drain, the bottom pipe being a bit warmer so it keeps the drain hole unfrozen.

Metal thingy now in t'hole, all defrosted, drain hole cleaned with a long flexible brush and all reassembled, let's see if I'm right.

Yeah, looks good. The bottom bar is an electric heating element, hopefully callout engineer checked that hadn't failed rather than just defrosting the hole?!

I've never heard of Sarking Felt, nor know what you mean by Lats at the bottom.
(It is arranged so it has half-slates inverted at the bottom, which sit on the wall plate & overhang by 2" to allow for a fascia board & guttering if that helps? The fascia board sits proud of the rafters so with the battens on should let the slates sit properly).

The felt is the bottom row of membrane that hangs into the gutter, as the membrane rots if its wet all the time. You put a second batton on at the bottom too carry the half slate, the full slate then sits over the top nailed to an adjacent lat.

I don't believe he did, but could be wrong. He wasn't there long, about 50 mins all in. Took me about 2 hours but that included emptying, refilling and cleaning.

I guess that testing it may be the next step if it continues to wee everywhere. Is thd heater a generic part or tend to be make/model specific?

Ah. No, I've only got the std membrane.
I have a batten to affix the half-slate in place, & another for the full slate to fly over the half-slate.

Maybe it's ok to assume that if it's creating puddles it must be melting the ice. I think the parts are make/model specific as there are lots of shapes/sizes - I replaced one about 5 years ago and had to order it via fridge model number.
