Sherman Tig (Jasic in disguise?)

Okay, so have I missed the boat completely on the Stealth 206, or is there still some availability anywhere...feel free to point me in a direction ? So many pages to this thread?

I'm about to post a "Which entry level AC Tig for home?" post.

Perhaps the writing on the packing tape round his welder might be a clue?!

I´m new in TIG welding and I don´t know very much about torchs, but the one that it comes with the sherman... I dont know, but I think is very big. In youtube I see more compact and ergonomic models.

Are they universal or I need a specific model to use in the sherman? What model do you recomend me to be compatible with the sherman and with button?

This is much better than the generic 26 style torches, you need to change the dine plug either replacing it with the one off the torch you have or buying another.
The plug is a Dinze 35/70.

The quality of the torch and cable, perhaps an improvement in quality but in current rating - no.

(Something someone new to TIG welding may be unaware of so worth a mention.)

What advantage would that one offer over the 26 series torch supplied with the Sherman - have you bought one?

It's smaller than the generic 26, that comes with most TIG welders plus it's also a lot less bulky and easier to use. Yes I have a Kennedy 26 and a 17, Got the 17 first while I was just starting out with TIG, actually think if I hadn't got a smaller torch I'd have given up and just gone back to mig.
After I started to get the hang of it and had pushed the 17 up to about 160 amps, I realised I needed something that wasn't as hot to hold.
Now I've actually upgraded again with a water cooled torch (and the cooler), which is a whole lot nicer to use...........

Nice one! I've had a shot of a water cooled torch a couple of times and I was amazed how light it was.

Yes they are lighter and smaller all round, same size as a air cooled 9. The only downside was none of the collets, ceramics etc are series 2 instead of series 3 with the 17 and 26 torches.
But I still use them occasionally if I need a torch with a switch.

A wp20 is definitely the way to go for most things although I am going to have to get myself a wp9 now as often I have to weld some small amounts of stainless outwith the workshop and hauling a cooler with me is a PITA

I went the other way started with a 9 for some sheet stuff I was messing about with. Liked it so much bought a 20 too. The 26 is now a dust collecting ornement!

Hey, really struggling to dial in the Sherman for aluminium. I've used the recommended settings in the manual. Welds always look like a slug, cloudy and no definition.

Just to try and take out one potential source of confusion: The Sherman AC balance setting reads %electrode positive, so you want a balance setting of ~35% (not ~70% which is %electrode negative).

I ordered one with a pedal from Greyeagle’s Polish site in January for under £600 inc shipping. Didn’t pay any duty. Only thing is I think shipping cost may have gone from 25 to 65 quid.

Was just under two weeks to arrive, which was what the guy in the email reply said. Everything well packaged and in good working order. Was very happy.

In fact, been using it a lot in the last couple of weeks and the DC arc is way better than my R-Tech 160, and can’t fault the AC either. Well chuffed.

Excellent! Still an absolute bargain and I concur with your comparison with the darker blue one...
