A load of government lefty produced bolacks!
Half the diesels driving around now will probably have no working CAT DPF or EGR valves as they just weren't designed to last more than the manufacturers warranty period. So what happens? We poor sods have to dodge around the rules just to stay on the road! Everyone went out and bought diesels as we were told they were better for the environment and the fuel and tax was cheaper. Now they've "discovered" diesels are really bad for us so have been putting up the price of diesel and road tax so the motors we've now got are a bloody liability especially if you live near London!
RAAARRRR rant rant!
Anyway stick a broom handle up that old cat bolt it on and see what happens. I think older cars (pre Euro5 2005 ish) have less restrictions and less tricky engine management systems ie you don't have to map out the DPF/EGR software to keep the dash lights off.
I've got a Vauxhall you know? I've been though it all......
Now seems that the only place to get the cat for this car is with Peugeot at £250 for recon ones! The ebay seller refunded me no problem and quick to. They were a pleasure to deal with. So I am going to refit the original and see what happens.
I cant see how to gut it. The outlet pipe is a 90 degree curve and what would you use to break up the core?
Cut it open, remove the core and weld it up again is the easiest way.I cant see how to gut it. The outlet pipe is a 90 degree curve and what would you use to break up the core?
That's funny I'm usually removing standard 2 bolt clamps and throwing them in the bin and then fitting the single bolt design as they clamp up so much better. Of course that is only my opinion and you all know what they say about opinions.....I know what you mean about those exhaust clamps - a really stupid design. You can spread them by putting a long bolt through the hole where the clamp bolt goes with 2 nuts in the gap in the clamp. Screwing the nuts in opposite directions will force the clamp open.
If I come across one of those clamps on my cars they normally go in the scrap bin and I fit a standard 2 bolt clamp in its place. They're only a couple of quid and a whole lot easier to fit.
