Most parting tools want to be on centre although I used to use some Kennametal ones that worked best at 0.1mm above.Very nice.
Some questions for you.
Do you set the tool to be bang on centre height - or higher or lower?
What cutting fluid. Looks nicer than soluble oil.
What lathe is it?
And finally what rpm?
