I think you are correct on that front most of them are 19mm minDon't think you will find that on MSC site
Perhaps too fast?
I only use about 350rpm and slow feed. Works like a dream.
I use plenty of soluble oil.
This old Tony's uses a battery drill when using the topslide for tapers.
Wouldn't need to be that accurate, well depending on the toolpost/centre height. The milling down could be a option not sure I trust my mill to be accurate enough for that job!
Yikes that is a bit spendy, but if I have too spend I will.
that one looks perfect should go in my 100 QCTThe RDG holder fits my iscar blade and should do what you want. www.rdgtools.co.uk/acatalog/16mm-Parting-Block-to-take-the-Indexable-Parting-Blades-206.html#SID=437
Yes much too fast I was just messing about with foot switch ready. It would normally give plenty of chatter but this wasnt.
I bought a used Iscar 30mm block off fleabay, had to mill it down to 25mm to get on my tool holder.
It was properly tough going.
Had to use inserts, hss quickly threw in the towel.
One of the cheaper blocks off eg, RDG might be a bit softer going.
Edit, Kram is already on that one.
sold!Ive also done it. 19mm iscar block down to 18mm. The chinese block wont be any easier both are through hard steel. Use grinder to cut a slice off the top.
My iscar block is the older type where the clamp is one peice sprung part of the block. It wont fit the 0.5mm bigger chinese blades but is fine with iscar ones. £15 if you want it.
struggling to find a holder to be honest any ideas?
....
There was a place that used to do tooling for small lathes but can't remember the name, Green something I think but...
That was it, knew it started with Green, getting senile but can't be that bad yet Must have been 25 years ago when I bought something from them.Have a look on Greenwood Tools site. They have been selling this design for years for the model engineering people with small lathes. There is no reason you could not copy it for your own machine. Only issue is the blade is not so easy to drill and countersink.
