I don't know which of @brightspark's or @Hood's posts to like since I confess to having used the hacksaw 'hack' on occasion, when my parting tool wasn't speaking to me. 
Luckily I seem to have found one which works atm, so I'm 'safe' again.
So, is the challenge on or not.....?

Ok, here is some 55mm Dia, first thing I picked up. Not sure grade but we will say just mild steel. Parting insert is old and likely needing changed soon but still cutting ok.
And I should have cleaned the lens first, vid a bit out of focus

I bought one of these from your link - absolutely incredible parting off has become a joy - it was something I USED to dread!
I suppose it helps I have a big old Colchester Triumph so pretty rigid setup.

Another one here that bought on the strength of Hoods recommendations. I run it at the lower end of its suggested feed/speed and I'm stunned with the ease it chomps stuff off.

The Iscar tangentials are the best I have ever used and I have used most of the known brands from Sandvik, Kennametal, etc etc.
I often wonder if my struggle to get a good finish turning steel is down to worn bearings or something but it can't be as I can part off all day long no problems at all.
Using one of these parting tools it is effortless.
I suppose parting off will show up chatter and wear more than anything else?

You mean to the Iscar Tang grip?
If so then you will have to wait until next month as MSC have it on special every second month, blade and 10 inserts for about £82 plus VAT.
