I have been involved with renewables before I joined this forum, probably before I even owned a welder, but you are correct. I change what I do to suit a changing world

Wasn't sure about this next bit, but I will put it. Look up energy performance contracts, in essence if my projects don't deliver I don't get paid or in extreme circumstances I would have to pay compensation.

Literally putting my money where my mouth is, just because a very small dataset doesn't align with what a good install can achieve, does not mean all installs are bad

Not one of them says you can asses an install remotely with 3 photos

But you can get a quafilicatsion in anything from Dr Google

If you want to argue that, then lots of things get assessed from photos.

So my assessment is, you have an exhaust that is potentially running at 500+degC passing through a flammable woodchip panel, covered in some thin heatwrap only designed for 300degC with little if any airgap.
Now as somebody who claims to know all about flue installations, do you not see any potential issue with your installation?

My workshop heater. I remember the days every household had one of these, but you never see them nowadays.
Ten minutes on medium setting and my workshop is like toast.

If I’d known about diesel heaters I’d probably have incorporated one while I was building the place.

Used to have one of these in a flat I lived in, cracking bit of kit for warming the place up. I never knew if the sleepy feeling was from the heat or the carbon monoxide I doubt they're allowed in most properties (officially anyway) nowadays.

My in-laws had on running all the time, the atmosphere hit you as you walked in the door. M in Law always complained of a cough & kept saying turn that gas heater off then. Wife & I had a job to stay in the house for long, that was the in-laws central heating, gas heater in the middle of the room!

I proudly share generation stats with current and potential clients

I also show simulation/prediction Vs actual, to show the simulation is improving all the time

No one ever said you get good generation all year, it's how you manage it that matters

As for the air gap -

Now given the exhaust pipe is around 25mm OD, that puts the gap on the left side of that photo around 5-10mm, and looks like it's pretty much tight against the wood on the opposite side, which I'd describe as a minimal air gap.

2 weeks in, no fire or even light charring. That photo is a after a week of running

Ours has been in storage for nearly 20 years. Got brought out a few days ago when the central heating failed, new hose on it and it was good to go. You forget how much heat these things produce in a short time. Very glad to have kept it

I initially bought mine when we moved to this house, 5 years ago, as a week before moving in I was informed the bulk lpg tank in the garden wasn’t certified, and was also in the wrong place for recertification. I really didn’t want to run out of gas and freeze to death before I could get it sorted out.
