Many years ago I had an XJ6 tailgating my old split screen camper for miles trying to get past , he eventually overtook just as I approached Fakenham , imagine his frustration on the other side of the town when he came up behind me again

Yeah but sometimes its more than flesh and blood can stand. Some old fart dawdling along at 40 miles an hour. Anyway the guy in the rapier gave him a two fingered salute.

That video is great. Loved seeing the early days of the M4 and all the old cars. Many drivers could still learn a lot from a commentated drive like this.

Had he not been so aggressive when he first came up behind me I would have pulled over , I had seen him in my rear view mirror overtaking several cars behind me on a road where overtaking just wasn’t safe ,myself ,I was stuck in a queue of traffic behind a truck ,he overtook me in a dangerous manner, cutting me up because of on coming traffic ,he then took the town bypass while I went through the town which is how I got in front of him again Besides the look on his face when he came up behind me was priceless.
I certainly don’t think he was a decent , competent driver!

I pull over when someone gets up my backside unless I am also being held back by solid traffic in front, if there is nowhere to go except up the next guys backside I will often stay where I am paitently waiting for the guy 15 cars in front to get the message and move to the left, I hate the recent trend for codgers to sit in the third lane of four doing an indicated 70, 64 in reality with empty lanes to their left, I feel lane four is no place for my tranny so may creep past on their inside very slowly, look back in the mirror and they are still sitting there, a mobile road block!

Slow progress, engine in and running well now, flooding issue sorted, fitted the rebuilt PAS rack and found I had forgotten to take account of the cannister oil filter position! I have the filter housing from the XJ6 that takes a spin on filter out sideways rather than down and back but the chassis leg gets in the way, I am looking for a casting from another engine to turn the filter through 90 degrees, not that it is critical but the XJ6 filter has a 1" UNF thread, most seem to be 3/4" UNF, need something to work with,

ooooops, hits the rack. only by 1/2" but no spare room....

I do have some aftermarket filter books that give thread sizes and dimensions, if you get stuck let me know and I can take a look

I don't really want to go with a remote filter as it is getting very busy on that side of the engine, would prefer to turn the filter by 90deg. or I once saw a Jag filter housing where the filter went upwards, no idea what model it was from though! I have gone through a couple of filter reference books looking for a very stubby filter that would fit inside the chassis rail but nothing available in 1" UNF, and may restrict the flow if as short as it would need to be.......

Can you fabricate the component as they aren't difficult to make.

I could, that does not mean I want to! 70mm over the seal, would need a 100mm square of alloy, and then set up the four jaw, if I can even find it!

Anyone got a 100mm or so alloy square?
