M300 Cross slide jammed!

Cheers @Pete. really kind offer, will see what my dad has, though I think his scrapers were all for scraping bushes.

I have in the past ground an old file for scraping. Not perfect but worked.

Mmmm, not good in my experience - you need a springy steel handle, long enough to get behind it. Borrow or buy a proper scraper.

You'd be best off scraping in the cross-slide and true it up, but be prepared for a hard slog if doing it all by hand. You'll also need a bevel edge straight edge and DTI or similar

Would I need a bevelled straight edge like in?

I think youd need to have one cast, or machined, not sure, the scrape it in, before you start your machine.

So we will see you back next November when youve finished all this scraping

They'll be fine, someone will come along and say 'at that price it's most likely Russian carbide'

You also need a way to sharpen the carbide - a slow speed diamond disc is ideal
