Although you are quite right of course, rubber can be made conductive. However any effect on car sickness would be a different matter, even with faith.

I get the number of miles based on how much fuel us in the tank and the mpg, so yes, yes I do believe it

Well I do about 500 miles on 47l so close enoughBut it's a VW. Can you believe it?
One of the bike magazines ran a bike on a measured quantity of fuel on a rolling road at a constant 70mph with a locked throttle. With and without one of these miracle broquet devices, under pretty much same temp and barametric conditions and measured the distance - got a few tenths of a mpg difference. Worse with the device. But such a difference basically meant no change.
They ran them in test bikes for some months and recorded mpg and how things went. No difference at all.
If they hadn't been given them for free, the only change would have been a lighter wallet.
I'll not disagree.
Two of my engines are on carbs - my old Pug 106 on standard carb and my trials car running a 1600 xflow on an SU HIF - not had to go inside either for a while, but when I've had to, both were nice and clean. Crossflow valves were - I have the nice and clean head of one of the exhausts on my desk after I retrieved it from the sump after it hammered a hole in a piston when my mate, who borrowed the car, ignored the tapping noise coming from the engine . . .

No , it was years ago that it was being done .around the time of the Flexborough disaster to my knowledge .
Some of the heavy lift tower cranes powered by massive engine driven generators were also on daily oil sample tests . Can't have 8 ton of load left hanging 150 foot in the air because the genny's engine has shed a shell bearing etc.
I do have a very skilled pal who works in oil refinery labs and he does similar work to discover what metal has been carried in pipework & where it comes from so that planned maintenance can be set up many months in the future to reduce down time , sudden stoppages & keep safety up at the top of the list .

I don’t know about in house labs but maintenance predictions using oil analysis is quite common.

I think we use it for condition monitoring along with vibration analysis and other data to try and catch faults before they become catastrophic failures and do more damage to the equipment.
Also with large volumes of oil it's worth taking a sample and having it analysed as if its still meets the standard there's not point changing gallons and gallons of good oil and the downtime.

, but heavy industry, a regular occurance.... we had it done yearly on MW capacity centrifugal / screw chillers by the manufacturer, who analysed the results and advised what (if any) action needs to be taken. Done a lot on expensive / rotating machinery, big engines, compressors, turbines,etc. The experts can predict a lot from reading the oil samples, and the associated compositions, gives fairly reliable advanced warnings of wear related failures, especially tied into vibration analysis, which is an art in itself.
