Beg to differ, 400hp of petrol car engine is ultimately the same as 400hp of a truck diesel. the max torque or turning forces of most diesels are produced at a very useable and leisurely sub 2000rpm and will go on for a million plus miles. For a petrol engine to compete or produce those max turning forces it would be on the redline, the diesel will live like this forever while the petrol would be on a recovery truck before the end of the first day. Max torque and where in the rev range it’s produced trumps hp figures. Does here anyway.

Pretty impressive stuff...I'm think maybe my driving is more steady and that's improving things. Just want 30mpg so badly at the moment...just sooo close!

I wouldn't recommend a fiesta...I had an st3 and 40 minute was the max journey time for me.

Forgot to add a guy called David Locke used to sell a product called Broquet ( A catalyst sent to Russia in WW2 so they could use rubbish fuel in Spitfires & vehicles we lent them ) I think it is still available ..it's not cheap but neither is the fuel over a years high mileage . Between all four of our Citroens we must have clocked up several hundred thousand miles with Broquet .

I had the wire mesh cylinder containing the Broquet catalyst pellets tied to nylon cord inner out of genuine parachute line and attached to the fuel sender unit tube inside the tanks . IIRC it gave about an 6.5 % improvement in MPG and cleaned up inside of the combustion chamber like it was brand new . This was on petrol & diesel engines .. apparently it aligns the molecules in the fuel which results in optimum burning.

Lots of companies do a weekly oil sample " Brix meter " type test of every vehicle , not only do they use Broquet they also use moly slip & PTFE in the engines gearboxes and greases in the ever progressing case to reduce friction wear & costs . Some of the bigger local authorities , big lorry , bus & shipping companies have their own labs & spectrum gas analyzers to forecast what wear is occurring in their engines & gear boxes so they can forecast accurately for a replacement program.

I'd be very surprised if the generator farms don't use these super lubricants & Broquet as well as magnetic fields to align molecules in the fuel lines .
I think that on production cars & trucks it's all down to cost if the buyer wants to spend £ 50 or so on super lubes and another £100 or more on the Broquet catalysts.
Remember also it's not in the interests of th manufactures to build or modify things that last any longer than they can get away with , because their making 7 selling new machines keep their company in business.

Think more along the lines of 6% saving on a £ three million or more annual fuel bill and you can see it makes sense to do what you can to lower it .

Aftermarket tuners don't need to worry about emissions, warranty, longevity, nvh, fuel quality or extremes of temp, pressure etc.

It's really easy to get more power or economy, its not easy to do it while the car meets all those requirements.

EDIT: For example see VW and their cheating the emissions tests. The only way they could get their cars with the mpg and performance was by cheating. When they had to be remapped to how they *should* have been there were a large number of unhappy customers as their cars became noticeably down on performance and drivability afterwards.

Why does the website look straight out of 2004?

A big clue for it being lies is a reaction occurs on the surface of a catalyst, if this was some coating applied to the face of a piston then it might make sense at least. You couldn't stir a beaker with a stick of catalyst and say the chemical is "catalysed for future reactions", unless the stick is dissolving, and then its not a catalyst it's an additive, which of course does work, but you'd have to keep refilling it.

I lost count of the number of punters at both motor cycle shows and motor shows that asked what oil to use and what additive to put in . The answer was always the same ."look in the owners manual for spec and grade ,don't use additives but most importantly CHANGE it regularly. As per the manual". If a manufacturer could gain an advantage over the opposition by using an additive they would. Be assured the manufactures have had a good look at all the magic potions but build the cars to run on whatever they decide on usually basic oil mineral or synthetic... I know it looks like an a8se covering reply but the service guys were more interested in a quiet life and not sales of additives . We didn't want to risk the fallout if problems occurred.

Why do that with something you know works .. it'd be like having salt tested & licensed as a food flavour enhancer or water as a thirst quencher .

My sisters FIL .. Don Overton was a former Spitfire engine technicial engineer working in engine development in Perkins engines after WW2 till he retires in 1969 .. it was he who pointed me to the Broquet .. said all RR aircraft engines & those made under licence were using it to cope with crap fuel .

When you think about the use of E5 & E10 bio fuels & the drop in MPG you may well find it will be making a come back .


One thing Locke did say , is that no one has managed to claim his compensation award for an engine that has suffered & died because of using Broquet

I have no idea about "briquet", never having heard of it, but a thought occurs:

What, exactly, caused "spitfire fuel" to be "crap"?
Is it possible it has/had some effect on a fuel which is *much* worse quality than modern "petrol station" fuel, but negligible effect otherwise?

I preferred the transit "auto anti-rust" system that protected the engine bay on my banananana engined van.
If only they'd extended it so it constantly sprayed the entire underside with oil.
