Got a large pallet load of stainless offcuts, from 1m-4m lengths, and I needed somewhere to store them all.

Picked the least useful pieces (doubled unistrut!) and made a 3m wide rack/shelf thing on saturday.

Unistrut is hateful stuff, and I'm glad I got it all used up!

Could not agree more! Hate to think how many miles of it I've installed, I've cut, has cut me and I've removed and scrapped Saying that, I've still got a load of it in my garage, just in case...…………………...

It's floppy, unlike proper box section. Only has strength two directions.
It doesn't cut square.
It doesn't even come square, for that matter.
Therefore welding it up, you've always got huge gaps to fill and the resultant distortion that comes with stainless steel.
It's got limited use for making frames etc, since you've always got one side open to the elements, or to fill with cack.

Only real use for it is for sparkies to bracket stuff with quickly and cheaply. Mild steel galv stuff rots sooner rather than later where I work too, so it's not even that economical in the long run.

Doubled struts (two struts spot welded back to back) is even less useful than regular. And twice as annoying to cut and weld.

Its dead handy for mounting panels of course, but it's only any use if you've got corresponding zebedee clips etc.

The company where I got all the offcuts from - use S/S unistrut for positioning specialist handling conveyors and devices. I had the misfortune fortune of welding up a load of unistrut trestles for them last year.

It just so happened that a few stainless lengths were thrown onto my offcuts pallet

It's definitely useful stuff, and as long as you have all of the fittings and Zebedees as Munkul says, it's a fast way of building framework for racking, electronic equipment etc. I've installed miles of it over the years building comms and power rooms for the telecoms industry although we only used galv staff and not stainless.

I like your welding table, have you got any more details about it on here, what size is it and what is the spacing between the holes.
I'm planning on making one 8ft long x 4ft wide and was going to use 150 x 150 H beams so that I could take it apart and make it 8ft wide and extent it up to 16ft long but the accuracy of the H beams isn't great.

I'm converting an old electrical cabinet. It's from the 60's, has 5mm thick steel sides! It's also 1m deep, too deep for full shelves, but plenty space for tool storage on the sides, etc.

- made shelves
- made hangers for grinders
- made hooks for drills and impact guns
- still to run 240v into it for a light and battery chargers

Why you didn't used this style of sockets instead of plug and separate switch?
Those ones are also safer because the plug can't be removed when the switch is in on position, and the switch can't be put in on position if the plug isn't correctly inserted into the socket

cos they're expensive and individual sockets and isolators were cheaper.

RCD protection is in the panel.

I love unistrut, we only use stainless offshore and can’t understand your won’t cut square comment. A Makita bacon slicer whizzes through it and then take off the skarf from the edges on a linishing belt. Such a flexible product regarding the fittings you can get. I have some Unistrut bearing rollers at home which make superb door rollers for a running door alongside a wall where you can’t encroach into a space with a swinging door.

The thing is when using it correctly using spring toggles to bolt the brackets through instead of welding the joints the spring nuts actually have a serrated grove which sits behind the lipped edge which stops the open face from closing or flexing. Granted a single 6m uni frame will flex along its length, which is why they supply the double strut. That is ****** heavy but immensely strong.
