Its an Elu 800w paddle switch, I THINK its a WS12. It's done more work than any grinder I've ever seen, it was bought second hand about 20 years ago and the cutting disc spigots are worn smooth

How do you find the size of the table, do you wish it was bigger sometimes. I can't decide whether to go for 8 x 4 or 10 x 5. It's just the bigger one will take up more space when it's not being used which could be months at a time.

You always want bigger I think it's a very usable size as-is, it's great for jigging up things like trestle legs and stuff that actually warrants a flat surface. If you were making gates or something, then bigger would be nicer.

I think I will go for 10 x 5, would 15mm thick be enough with four 10ft lengths of 160mm channel iron underneath it

It depends if you want jig holes or not.
The 20mm plate on mine is great, but several of the most used 16mm holes are getting a little bit loose... it's only S275 plate, not super hard or tough, and it will give a little. A thinner plate will give even more.
I wonder if a 20mm hole system would be better in that regard.

I was going to put 16mm holes in it, would 15mm be to thin for a hole system. I probably wouldn't be using it as much as you and a small bit of give would probably be ok for me.
I have a bench that is about 4 foot long by about 2 foot 6 wide and is made from 15mm thick steel and there is no give in it. The steel is very old and is probably a far superior quality to what you get today. I think it was used as a keel in a boat at one time.

Not exactly work I've done, but I got a new toy delivered last week.

3mm x 1080mm capacity as well as flat and round bar options (probably going to get the most use!)

The paralellogram linkages need a few adjustments to roll straight, I haven't even wired it up or tried it out yet since I've been too busy with machinery maintenance and ploughing.

and I fitted an LED strip around the doorframe of my cupboard, on a microswitch connected to the door.

Still have to get it wired through the back and into a handy socket, though!

Little workshop update.

The spot is full! I think we've finally got all of the equipment installed that I want... now it's just money to spend upgrading Refurbish lathe, bigger guillotine, bigger pressbrake, etc etc. As it stands, we have both TIG sets on the go atm - the IFL for tacking frames, and the Lorch for welding out.





End of a productive day, and looking forward to shipping out.


And a rather nice chap from across the pond sent me a canvas welding banner for Christmas. It still needs a bit of time to un-crease.




The mezzanine is full as well, including some nice ornaments belonging to my cousin put up yesterday. They're immaculate, two of them never ridden.

Rollers will be pretty handy, I’d like a set but they’d have to be huge to do what I want to do.

I got a job lot of 4 sections from work for free, they comprised a pair of walk-through electrical control cabinets from the 70's, doors at each end. I built one into that cupboard, my brother built another into a cupboard for himself, and I gave away the other 2 sections! They are huge clumsy things with sides made of 4mm steel!
