I had a pop-bang exhaust and a massive stereo system when I was younger.
I, like most, grew out of it but unfortunately people keep breeding more of the youth to take the place of the ones that mature...

I did move to a better area but that's not helped much, as now, I am the scummy neighbour that all the righteous manor dwellers around here moan about.

I had a huge stereo for a long time too ,,,, lol ,,, really huge and I really avoided growing up as much as I could....

We get a few round here but in Matlock a couple of weeks ago the police were pulling them over and giving them seizure notices if they didn't stop the noise.

I had a difficult neighbour a long time back I asked him to do us all a favour and not rev it before he leaves for work

No point, it doesn't need to be revved to make a huge din. And talking to her? Talked to her about lighting a smoky bonfire when the wind was blowing it into our house, haven't talked to her about using my garage as a mount for her washing line, or rotovating the lawn right next to my dividing wall, the list goes on. I think she's a bit thick tbh.

Who cares if it has tinted windows?

Bloody NIMBYs everywhere these days, and the general response, which no, I don't think for one second anyone posting would ever actually dare carry out, is to damage the car?

Live and let live, we are destroying ourselves as it is, might as well burn the world while not arguing with the neighbours

With the greatest respect i don't think moaning on a forum will solve any neighbor dispute...I am a believer in building bridges not burning them so why not do one of 3 things
1.. Have the balls to knock on the door with a smile and invite them,he,she for a barby and a friendly chat over a burgur and a beer.
2.. Have the balls to knock on the door and confront with a rod of fire and get it sorted (gum shield optional).
3..do nothing and just sell the house and try find good neighbors elswhere.
Labeling something of this nature with "Illegal council estate cars" is not going to do any good with respect to finding friends or allies

Years ago I had a particularly loud car and a roll of toilet paper would fit nicely up the exhaust pipe and make it quite as a mouse. I used to keep a few rolls in the boot and if I was coming or going at night time I'd stick a roll in it to avoid annoying the neighbours.
It'd stay in the exhaust until I gave the car a bit of boost and then it'd fly out with a backfire, used to get a laugh out of doing it with someone behind me, they'd hear a bang followed by a roll of toilet paper bouncing off their windscreen and I'd disappear

Drainpipe exhausts have been a thing since I was a lad, they weren‘t cool then and they still aren’t now, but try telling that to a 20 year old.
Eventually they’ll grow up and realise how ridiculous it looked and sounded with their little farty sounding tiny 4 cylinder engines with a drainpipe for an exhaust.

I think some of you have forgotten what it’s like to be young and daft.

I admit i havent grown up as of yet

i still play music loud, i still have my car gear and the loud air horns that i have i also made many jump out of there skins with them ( i wanted the bull horn but the train horn would be just as good )

but even ive taken off the back box before now

played chicken, street raced and with a few trusted friends play catch up with cars even played water skimming with a sierra

ive had my fun and still do when i want to do the whole issue of today is no one has anywhere to go to have fun its been ruined

where you could go play and have fun theyve shut down all because of snob moaners

so now they moan because its done on the streets or where they can do really you cant win

I even asked the new neighbour if the music i play is too loud or not as im trying to be fair and dont want to upset anyone yeah i like loud music with bass me and daughter has had a few rows on whos got the loudest stereo i won and thats before i pull the big one out and play it

as goes for blacked out windows its a police matter if the front 3 are blacked out or darkened more than the original design

ive been pulled due to stupidness of coppers for original darkened windows yet stupid its pathetic in the uk

now i had blue tint to my headlights much better for fog and yet it failed an mot due to them being this way which i thought was pure dumb when there is proof they do work better and certaily dont have the glare compared to normal headlights

dont even get me started on the fumes from the vehicle from what it was originaly designed for

now whilst many may disagree i dont mind a dodgy one to a degree for getting past the enviromental mot test

just as much as a i will pass the vehicle if your willing to do the work asap ( which of coarse i do the work straight away)

but not one where the vehicle is unsafe ive seen some and want no part to them

No surprise, I had a proper massive stereo back in the day, no back seats. 4 off 15’s and everything else, lowered car, changed colour, full blacked out windows.

If I didn’t get pulled it wasn’t a day.

Thanks for your reply. If you look at my original post it was to ask the question - how do they get MOT's. I have no interest in dobbing in, plugging up their exhausts or having ball or not. Neighbours are like buses, another will be allong in a minute.

I'm afraid the root problem is the ever dropping level of consideration or care for the impact someone has upon their neighbours.
More & more just don't give a damn, and are of the "there's no law against it" (or they know Plod & Council can't be arsed to bother) ilk.
If its not loud cars, it's loud music, loud people, screeching feral kids, or nuisance barking dogs (or combinations thereof).
I'd live with no neighbours if I could - not because I'm antisocial, but because I'm anti-d***head

When you read in the news that some **** was caught driving four times over the alcohol limit, caught on video swerving all over the road, eventually hits a biker head on, launching him into the air... yet he gets NO jail time, just a fine and some unpaid work....... you realise the system is designed in favour of the scum bag law breaker.

They average chav knows there is very little punishment coming his way if he gets caught, they have nothing to lose.

This country is teaching the next generation that crime does pay.

It reminds me of my days on Pistonheads forum, when there seemed to be a competition as to who could give the most contrary, negative, derogatory, derisory or confrontational response to anything that was posted. Ask a serious question about an issue or problem, and within minutes there would be someone telling you that it was your own fault, or to grow a pair, or "why don't you just....."
