best doing it with an extended pipe so i goes half way in and you cant see it costs a fortune for a mechanic to diagnose it thinking its a fuel problem

Lady next door, Essex las, and her offspring, seem to have a weird way of going about life. I won't list the things she's done that have potential consequences for our meighbourly relations, and I like to at least not argue with my neighbours.
But her daughters, or more accurately their partners must get their MOTs through the post.
No1, black VW Golf td. Totally blacked out windows, some reflective type film on the front, pink "I'm a bitch yada yada" stickers on the back, absolutely no silencing. It sounds like a tractor idling or on throttle, pops bangs and farts loudly on overrun. The mother has been using it whilst her (perfectly standard) car is in for repair - 5.30 every morning wake up call.
No2, BMW 3,series tdi - virtually identical to the Golf in all other respects.
Now, I'm not stupid, and know that souping up a turbo engine needs an open exhaust, but how in hell do they get an MOT cert? Also, the screen reflective thing' as well as the full blacked out windows - how?
Neither car should be on the road, you have to question their insurance cover too?

Simple enough to check on line if they are taxed, MOT and insurance.

I'm afraid the root problem is the ever dropping level of consideration or care for the impact someone has upon their neighbours.
More & more just don't give a damn, and are of the "there's no law against it" (or they know Plod & Council can't be arsed to bother) ilk.
If its not loud cars, it's loud music, loud people, screeching feral kids, or nuisance barking dogs (or combinations thereof).

Drainpipe exhausts have been a thing since I was a lad, they weren‘t cool then and they still aren’t now, but try telling that to a 20 year old.
Eventually they’ll grow up and realise how ridiculous it looked and sounded with their little farty sounding tiny 4 cylinder engines with a drainpipe for an exhaust.

I feel for you but the reality is if they have an MOT(no matter how dubious)TAX(you need MOT and insurance to get Tax) then they are legal from an administration point of view.

I've been in a similar situation and if you keep focusing on it it will ruin your life, you will get to the point where every single minor thing they do drives you mad.

Sadly the only solution to these problems is to live somewhere that it can't affect you, we only have one neighbour who isn't the other side of a field an they are still quite a way away and we get on with them.

It would be easy to assume that living somewhere with a different level of people would be better but I guarantee you will find issues even if you lived in a more upmarket area, often afluence makes the whole thing worse.

i agree with kayos motorbikes are worse on noise levels

however i also believe that mots should except a y adaptor on the exhaust for both standared and a big bore exhaust system

no offence to many but having it open on an open road or organised meets would be fine however if you use it wrongly and are caught doing so easy enough with phones nowadays then your vehicle should be impounded with a fine

on your 3rd warning your car is crushed they soon will obey that rule
