No it doesn't actually. One of the fastest and most successful straightliners bike was run by Phil Wood it was phenomenally powerful and ran a full system. It is IIRC the only bike ever to clock 200mph on the long straight at Snetterton.

It wasn't standard-bike quiet but it wasn't exactly loud either. His later bike was louder but tht bike back around 2007-2009 definitely ran a full system with a silencer.

As a general rule anything turbo,d is not as loud as it has rotary baffleseven when its straight from the hot side with a stubby pipe its not as loud as open headers on an N/A motor

they are here ,,, and the emissions test is still done too , although it seems to be all test or no test depending om what memo is out that month.

Never had a diesel emissions test done on a MOT & I've been driving diesel vehicles for 17 years! All they do is a visual smoke test. Have things changed?

Depends on the age of the vehicle and the requirements at the time it was built I suppose.

a while ago part of the emissions test was to hold the vehicle on full throttle and measure emissions ,, then they stopped that bit ,,, Id love to see an old 2.4 landy held that way for long , with no load . Their argument was if it explodes it wasnt fit for the road ,, but that part of the test got dropped again shortly after.

I told my tester I was worried about the black smoke on the 110,
So he just used his hand to touch the throttle down ever so slighy

I heard that they blew up a few engines & that testing method was dropped after a few disgruntled owners decided to sue them! No diesel vehicle is designed to take that punishment & I guess the car manufacturers would agree with it so the complainants would have a good case!
