Depending on where in Hertfordshire you are , Cambridge Injector services in Comberton just off the M11 are very good
I say no. I have broken cars piling up and I cant be bothered. My place will look like a Land Rover scrap yard soon

Well progress of sorts...
I went out and put the batteries back in the Surf and fired it up, a couple of chugs and it was off after sitting for three weeks or more
Then while it was warming up I thought I'd have a quick sweep up in front of the garage.
Two hours later I'm still cutting ivy off an old planter that's overgrown with a 3" root, a shovel and splitting maul finally got it out. Mud, leaves and broken crazy paving everywhere.
Cleaned up, washed off and lunch, woke up on the sofa two hours later
Now it's dark and my knee and back are killing me.
I went out and put the batteries back in the Surf and fired it up, a couple of chugs and it was off after sitting for three weeks or more

Some real progress today!
After battling with a SOB Fiat 500 this morning and finally getting a win, see here for more mechanical mayhem I thought I'd run with it so started on the Surf.
I started on it at about 2.30pm by warming it up, it really don't sound good, lots of misfiring and clattering at various rpm. I never noticed it when I'm driving it but it's obviously not right
I started removing the induction pipework so I could reach the injectors and glow plugs, I suspect the injectors need a refurb and I've heard horror stories about the glow plug tips falling off at high mileage and causing havoc!
All the glow plugs and injectors came out without too much trouble, the ones at the rear are a bit hard to reach though.
I cleaned all the oil and ****e away before removing anything though.
All the plugs are intact so that's good and the injectors all look the same with some tarnishing or burnt carbon on the ends.
No pictures as it was dark and raining.
I removed the rocker cover ready to check the valve clearances next time.

Used to use Colchester fuel injection for all my injector/pump work, they were brilliant, but since them moved and got bought out, they are over priced and all the old boys then new their stuff with the CAV and Bosch pumps have gone.
As for PF Jones, wouldn't wipe my **** with their work, had one injector they rebuilt the solenoid nut come lose. had another set were so far out of spec the vehicle ran like crap, they had not replaced the solenoids just the tips!! (See spread sheet for delivery values)
Took 6 weeks of arguments and getting the injectors independently tested to get my money back!
they don't rebuild a lot of them, just send them out to the cheapest bidder (yes they did buy a Hartridge but don't have anyone fit to use it)
Now use United Performance, Keith who runs it with his son is great, they will do custom injectors, and they rebuild injectors for PF Jones that are to difficult for box shifters!!

On the Surf, I would change the nozzles myself. Take each one apart and rebuild one at a time though so you dont get parts mixed up. If you don't want to DIY it, I suggest Diesel Bob.
There are calibration spacers, and probably a small ball and spring. Be careful, methodical, and clean, and you should not have any problems.
Having said that, with the symptoms you describe, I suspect the fault may well lie elsewhere. Dirty fuel, cheap fuel filters, and water in the system, are usually the biggest problems with diesels.
Have you been running on chip fat, veg oil, etc ?

I have but not much and not for ages, it's been like this a while running on diesel.
Yes it sits at about 750 rpm but has an occasional drop by 100rpm or so.
It drives fine with plenty of power, no smoke etc. it had a new AMC head from Roughtrax in 2014.
I've had a quick look at the vacuum pipes and can't see anything obvious. The EGR valve was deleted when I did the head so I don't think it's to do with any of that.
I did find a pipe from the leak off pipework wasn't fully pushed onto the metal pipe running back to the fuel tank but had no fuel leaks, the factory clip was on but it was quite loose so may have been sucking air in?
I'm hoping it's not a valve gone miles out of adjustment due to a faulty valve seat...
Can't be the Colchester Fuel Injection that I know as they haven't moved. Been in Haven Road for as long as I can remember. Still have quality staff in my opinion and have never failed me. Yes, they can be a bit pricey but had experience of a few others none of whom are still about.Seems to be very few who want to do this sort of work now.

They used to be in the older buildings along the Hythe, now in one of the newer industrial units, and they no longer are happy to just polish nozzle and re seat a valve and quickly pressure test while you wait. last job i had them do on a 6 cylinder P pump, bill was close to twice what originally quoted.

I like doing stuff myself, as I know what has been done, and what has been fitted. There are a lot of counterfeit injector parts about though, so do not buy the cheapest ones from ebay etc. Buy from PF Jones, Diesel Bob etc.I'm in two minds weather to get some new nozzles like @8ob said or risk taking them somewhere that'll F them up
BiL has a LR 300 Tdi engine that has been run on lard/chip fat/veg oil or whatever. Injector pump is completely fooked. Rusty and congealed fat ? In it. Another pump, problem solved !
I know a lot of people claim it does no damage, but for a low use vehicle, that spends a lot of time sitting round, IMO its not worth the risk. When it turns out you need new pumps and/or injectors, any money saver is instantly wiped out, not to mention the hassle.

Its not hard to change out nozzles, the purist would pop test to ensure they are all cracking off at the same pressure. Dont think I have ever pop tested injectors after a nozzle change and not found them to be spot on. Within reason the psi that they break off at is not as important as them being equal, if you are passing or worried about them you are more than welcome to put them on my pop tester.
