it is possible for a fault or failed start to cause exhaust to be emitted from the combustion intake. it is unwise to pipe it anywhere but outside with the exhaust.
I've had a few beers, I'll return to this tomorrow with a clear head, even a false start, which has shown up as an error, failed combustion, surely is can ventilated and exhausted.
Imagining, the pcb fails, false start, combustion, but no fan, yes I can imagine combusted gas, smoke, we'll say, if the fan failed, could come out the inlet, but it would take the flame detector to ...
