So anyway, the Multisize collets come in tins, and they’re nice and substantial boxes, I keep mine coated with atf fluid. You can see the collets are quite substantial too - the fins get pushed inwards as the collet is drawn into the taper.
Each collet has a max size bar it can take and you can feed through the headstock. The locking collar I machined then screws in and you have a toothed key much like a drill chuck which winds it all together.
Lovely big collets - look much chunkier than my Rubber flex ones. Probably more accurate as well.
I spent years looking for a chuck in L1 size but they are so rare.
I found that the rubberflex collets are cheaper in the UK but the chucks are cheaper in the USA. I had a proper bargain - I picked up 2 chucks from the same seller in the USA - buy 1 get one free! The free one has the nose piece missing but that will be a nice project for me.
