Like it i guess, plus cant feel ridges in van floor at all. Also nice flat surface for adding fixtures too.

I'd have chucked some 27mm celotex over the ridges before the laminate.

Not planning to convert mine but il be chucking some celotex and ply over the roof. Getting fed up with condensation dripping on my tools.

Theres not that much roof space as it is mate, the foil is about 10mm i think and the laminate 12mm, So less than an inch of height lost

I think I'm going to get some cheap vinyl/lino flooring for mine. As the laminate I was looking at was pretty expensive & I don't think it would survive

Had 8x4 sheets of plasterboard in my van, Lots of heavy stuff. Would of ruined the floor in next to no time. So have left just ply lined for the time being

I went carpet tiles over ply.
Easy to replace too

I probably won't get back on here tonight, but if anyone has advice on ply lining would be really useful.

Inside of van full of curves and recesses that make shaping and/or bending to fit more tricky. For example under window behind drivers door the metal recesses in horizontally under full length of window.

Know i could use quite thick ply just fastened to furthest protruding points but want to retain as much space as possible.

And only way i know to "pattern" for cuts is cardboard pressed over shape needed. But thats not working well where a recess encountered further along.

If I'm over thinking it just say .

When I did my T4 I used 1/4 ply if I recall. Used countersunk self tappers into the ribs, this gave room for insulation behind the ply.

I went with the easy option. Big van. Studs between the ribs 50 mm kinhspan and 9mm ply over the top.
Gave me only 2 planes to contend with exc floor and ceiling and solid enough to fix anything to any point.

Re cutting.

Draw a cross in the middle of each panel. Use those as a datum. Transfer cross to ply or look on YouTube for a tickstick.

For the small savings going in the panels I wouldn't bother. Thicker ply and Clean lines.
Easier to work with later

Spent most of the day welding bed/couch behemoth up.

Smart meter says used 47p

Not gonna waffle, too tired. Hats off to guys who do this full time. Its not so much the welding, more the constant repositioning of big metal objects

Its not finished yet. Its going to get another leg near the wheel arch snd more straps for fixing to the floor. Ran out of steam, and think i may need a bit more metal too.

Could of made it lower had it not been for wanting space for chemical toilet underneath.

Not much headroom used as a couch as I'm 6ft, but honestly I'm happy enough.

In couch form its a decent single bed and plenty of space underneath for whatever you need.
