Not all good, not all bad, sometimes out of pure motives sometimes out of avarice, history is a funny old thing and hindsight just makes it more difficult.

My Indian history is somewhat patchy but at the time it seems like it was a choice between England France or Islam.... the old kingdoms were going one way or the other, from their own intrigues or from external influences. Of the 3 I am pretty certain that the way it went was not the worst outcome, would France have been any better?

I’m pretty sure that any other culture would have done “stuff“ too. This will also have created discussion and debate. To be fair the Indians are quite bad at some stuff too. I’ve personally seen them discriminate against different casts where there is a status based pecking order. i Will never say this is good or acceptable but it’s how they work over there.

When I first worked in Birmingham I was surprised at the racism amongst the Indian guys depending on background / home. I pulled some of them up for it and was met with complete astoundment, they thought it was perfectly normal and acceptable

Yep, sadly it’s very true and still happens today. There is even a more subtle form of discrimination that happens within the cast system. It’s loosely based upon your trade and easy to pick up with your surname

History cant be changed & if we have learnt from it good.
Being Welsh we have been persecuted for hundreds of years, Romans, Normans, English, jokes at our expense country raped & pillaged for coal, slate, water, etc.

Yep, sadly it’s very true and still happens today. There is even a more subtle form of discrimination that happens within the cast system. It’s loosely based upon your trade and easy to pick up with your surname

My mum was a doctors receptionist about 30 years ago. Remember her telling me about one Indian doctor who would ignore the other as his surname meant shopkeeper. I think that was it anyway.

l came over the bridge as a missionary to help the heathens out of their misguided ways, same as most missionary's married a local to save her sole & stayed as did a large number of Romans, Vikings, Normans, Indians, Chinese, Italians, West Indians, ETC.
Another thing we are not good at remembering is the very large numbers of colonials and others who gave their life for the (mother country11) in 2 world wars

I was not going to open this cupboard but seeing as you have in a sense removed the locks then i will My daughter and her partner are very much in love and very happy. If i shown you some of the text messages that they have both received from his parents then it would make your hair curl Parm from under the scalp seeing as there is none on top..anyway mate they are pure vile and even shocked me The boyfriend is Indian and all the vile texts relate to my daughter being from working class even though owning her own property and earning 40K a year in the city is not good enough for there son. He is a consultant and his parents "wanted more from him" They have never been to the UK and sampled its multi cultural living. So sad that people still have inward looking perceptions on life. I will add that Nikal (thats his name) is part of my family now and all the love it brings as he is a good kid and treats my daughter wonderful.

@roofman, I understand, don’t forget I’m Indian, have Indian family and know this sort of thing happens. I don’t condone it one little bit. Not at all

ive been blessed with liberal parents. I’ve been allowed to do what ever I want. Thier only dream I’ve shattered is not becoming a Doctor

some of my aunties and uncles stress when kids marry out of cast let alone a different colour. This drives me nuts

im very forward thinking and liberal. We go where our destiny takes us.
