@conor1n , Thanks....this is my first foray into major bodywork so I'm just finding out as I go along.
Anyway, I intend using epoxy 2k primer on everything except the underside. I've got some epoxy mastic (em121) for that, and I'll probably use it for the suspension components too... The epoxy 2k primer is some Italian brand that I got locally..... It's a high solids primer and seems to sand ok.
I think you're on the right track. I haven't used mastic for my engine bay as I intend painting it pearl white
Wiped down with thinners, and attacked with a knotted wire-wheel on a grinder. I used both the "star" type and the cup type, both have their merits. This took off the top-coat, the rubbery coating, the white primer underneath that, the black (original?) topcoat under that, and some of the original green factory primer under that. I'll finish stripping with a strip and clean poly disk before getting it ready for refinishing.I thought I was looking at the night sky
How did you strip back the underside of the car in the end?
