But I do think I need to be realistic about what I'm going to have time to do both in terms of hours in the day and also years left to be able to do it.
That's the correct mindset.

Pretty much where I'd got to with my thinking. The time taken to do it added to the space created by getting rid 'as is' outweighs any benefit in doing half a job to have runners. That's the correct mindset.Get all the parts for each, respectively, put together, & flog as projects or parts. You may make a few bob more flogging them as runners, but is having free time not more important & worth more than a few extra bob?
Which list is the Can Am on?Trying to get a bit more organised I've put together a list of the bikes/projects I own and categorised them as Build & Keep, Build & Sell, Sell as Projects, and Sell as Parts.
It's on the 'Finish and sell unless someone makes me an offer before I get to it list'Which list is the Can Am on?
This rather hideous contraption's back. He bought it unseen on eBay from someone in North Yorkshire and last time it was in because the carbs were full of gunge.

This time it's in because the fuel tap let go and dumped a tankful on his drive. Considering the state of the rest of it I very much doubt this is the last I'll see of it.

I think it was standing for a long time before it was put back on the road. I couldn't make out what it was, started out like a waxy substance but as it dried it went crumbly, almost crystalline.
What's he been running it on, Weetabix?
That looks like something built on scrapheap challenge! This rather hideous contraption's back. He bought it unseen on eBay from someone in North Yorkshire and last time it was in because the carbs were full of gunge.

I don't think they took that much time over it.That looks like something built on scrapheap challenge!
I get it with my punters "How long will it take,2 days or so ?" "No love, be finnished for just after lunch time"I emailed that bloke with the 3TA this morning to say it's done and give him the invoice, ask when he'd like to pick it up etc. He just rang and said
"I thought it'd be more than that with the state it was in."
FFS! You just can't win with customers.![]()

Not terribly far off that. It's got one of those horrible trike conversion kits, which put all the twisting forces from the rear axle on to the wrong bits of the frame. That looks like something built on scrapheap challenge!
The forces going through the individual pivot bearings must be huge as there's no provision at all for the frame or axle to tilt. So even a slight camber will load one or the other, add on cornering speed & any bumps and the bearings and tubes must take a right hammering. Not terribly far off that. It's got one of those horrible trike conversion kits, which put all the twisting forces from the rear axle on to the wrong bits of the frame.
Should have shortened one side of the axle to reduce the prop angle. Loads of those about too…Not terribly far off that. It's got one of those horrible trike conversion kits, which put all the twisting forces from the rear axle on to the wrong bits of the frame.
