Striped down, cleaned and left in the Plating kit.

That'll do.
The whole Febi Bilstien thing is misleading.
They have nothing to do with Bilstein who make quality suspension parts. (Alot of people assume this)
Most Febi parts are made in china and they are not my first choice- especially for brake components. Autdoc is worth the wait and will have better brands.
There are some exceptions to Febi like reboxed SGF / OE guibo joints for MB's.
Things like Febi hoses and engine sensors made by them I would avoid speaking from experience. If the oe parts were made by Bosch buy Bosch etc.
I think I might have taken the £2 loss on the chin and bought some the right sizea few months ago i bought a pair of mudguards at auction. about £2 iirc. the pics where useless for working out size and the description was equally unhelpful.
turns out they are for 8" wheels, so not much use for a 225 45 18 tyre.. but im stubborn so...

not pretty, took ages, still have another to do, but it will work.
Febi Bilstien are part of the Bilstien group that also includes swag and blueprint.

I've used a lot of febi suspension and drive train components over the years and they have always been good quality.
My 406 had an appetite for front drop links, had to put on a new pair for mot every year. Then I fitted a pair of febi ones and they lasted for several years.
They make some stuff in Germany and some of their products may be made in China but then some genuine Mercedes parts are more than likely made there too.
Lemforder are an OE supplier to Mercedes and they have several factories in China.
China can produce top quality stuff and it would surprise most folks how much top end stuff is made there.
You know Bilstein of the suspension make stuff in China too? They are still NOT related or part of Bilstein who make quality suspension parts.
As I said, some Febi stuff is OK as they sometimes rebox genuine parts but there is a larger percentage if their parts they make which are not good quality.
Speaking from 20+ years of experience I know this to be true. Hence I avoid Febi where possible.
You know Bilstein of the suspension make stuff in China too?
Their parent company Thyssenkrupp makes Bilstein badged stuff there, as well as lots of other automotive stuff - steering, chassis, body components as well as suspension.
I think I might have taken the £2 loss on the chin and bought some the right size
11 out of 10 for perseverance though![]()

needle gun to descale then jenolite. then simply epoxy primer and direct gloss black.
That doesn't look like a restoration
