I went for the military grade winch with a galvanised drum and improved corrosion measures.

Assuming it is 3 phase you could fit a vfd and that will give you variable speed and save a lot of belt changing.

In my case it was a little extra for a galvanised winch drum and allegedly better corrosion protection for the rest of the winch. I had to repaint my old superwinch a few times over the years, so thought worth a punt.

My FIL did his time here ,became a foreman,joined after.er national service,only left in 1999,when they closed the factory,they’re still in business though,over 200 years! Made a lot of steam engines,they have a huge forged crankshaft in the science museum,pioneers of commercial refrigerators. Richard Trevithick worked there whilst he was in his prime years.

Yesterday i was needing an oil drum to make a burner for garden rubbish at mother in laws jungle. Got home & one pops up on our local community fb page, free. So i shoot round there & pick it up. Turns out to be a BarrelQ barbecue, The grill &firebasket fits any standard oil drum & it appears to have barely been used. So our Son is happy cos he wants a barby & I have a burner, just got to find another barrel now!

Just had an odd assortment of hole saws before which never seem to the right size or cut deep enough so this was an opportunity not to pass up.

Bought in Lidl this morning. £99 (reduced from £119). They also had petrol chainsaws for £59 but I already have one.

Used it for about 5 hours straight this afternoon. Very impressed so far! Makes concrete and block walling look like new.

I have been on the fence about getting a wee Femi one ever since I saw Kim’s but I wouldn’t use it enough to justify the price. Hopefully this one can do reasonable straightness as that will be much straighter than me alone!

You still need to watch the blade to use as your guide, & not the saw frame. They're just as bad as hacksaws. They're merely quicker & easier when potentially making a wonky cut.
