Think the cost would be dependent on size and might come down if there were several on site. However, in most circumstances, I expect the lumps would remain and be mounded over. Or be reused to put up a newer turbine, or be repurposed - should be a decent electric supply cable there! Either way, I can think of worse things to have burried just below the surface.

There was a fridge left on until about a fortnight ago, but I noticed on the smart meter readout gadget that the wall lights consume 4p an hour. They are 4 small, old fashioned incandescent candle bulbs, which I had all but forgotten exist any more.
4p an hour..... equates to £28 a month, half his total bill.
I've now removed 2 of the 4 bulbs.
I was about to say the same - currently I'm sat typing this under perfectly useable lighting (it will even power my 1986 Casio fx451 solar powered calculator) that is one single 5W bulb in the fitting above me - the other two sockets in it are empty.

280 jobs going, I’m absolutely gutted as there are some top guys I worked with there, and on a purely selfish note it was local for me.

Last time I was there a few months back it was still fairly optimistic but it had already been shut down since September.
It’s an old plant, but to be fair no worse than some other chemical plants I go to (I seem to plump for all the good jobs
) . Your absolutely right that there’s some pretty grotty areas though!! We’ve had to replace some PCs that are in supposed “clean” control rooms that have been absolutely choked with dust!
I can imagine that being pretty devastating for the local economy. There's talk of a new fertiliser plant for us up here on an uninhabited island to make use of newly approved offshore wind farm energy. I did a technical risk assessment when they had a female apprentice start there. Part of the plant randomly spews out a chemical harmful to female fertility. One of her jobs was going to inspect for leaks.
