That's what I'd just started to figure out, every time I tried going for a longer arc and less travel was when I had problems. The other big realisation was you need to work uphill, try going downhill and the flux rolls forward into the arc.Hold the rod as tight as you can, literally lay it against the metal, you want it hot with a high travel speed
That would be fantastic if you could spare some, cheers.I think I’ve got some 2.5mm stainless rods if you want some posting Adam.
I’ll have a gander what I’ve got and chuck some in a Jiffy bag, if your not in a rush! That would be fantastic if you could spare some, cheers.
I’ll pop some in post mateA handful of 2.5mm would do me, 3.2 are probably a bit too chunky. I think the 253ma rods would be wasted on this but I'll let you know if I ever get a micro gas turbine in for repair.![]()
YepLooks like I owe a lot of beer when it's all up and running.![]()
I'm glad I got to try them or I'd almost certainly have bought a pack of 1.6mm rods, then probably put any problems with them down to it being stainless, and sworn off it for life.Yep, those 1.5 mm rods are sods.
I agree.
One day when I am rich enough , I will fill a vehicle tank with fuel and ask for an invite to taste a brew.Today was another brew day. Time for more Citra IPA, the last lot was very popular. I gave the brewery a quick wash down as its been a couple of months since last use.

Great stuff glad the rods worked ok for youNo leaks!

Supranox rods ran a treat, it might just be that I'm getting better at sticking though. Cheers Dale.
I assembled that passthrough backwards, it protrudes further forward than I wanted while barely making it through the keg, should be fine though. I've also warped the funk out of that triclamp flange, luckily not so far that the gasket can't seal it, but it's a massive pain to get the clamp on.

Bit of tidying up still to do, the back side of the welds are all oxidised and nasty. Do people backpurge with MMA?
*This* close to finishing.![]()
If it's an open joint you do not need to purge but if it's not you need to either use a backing tape, purge or use solar fluxNo leaks!
