Still looking at my Oxford with a view to fault finding parts. This is what secondary failure looks like!

The primary may be ok?
It has 0.5 ohms resistance which is not supprising as the cable is thick!
I'm not transformer guru so I'm unsure if I can apply voltage to this while it's not in a transformer? I'm assuming it will present a negligible impedance and blow a fuse?
Anybody know the correct way to test this stuff out?

Was that made from one bar?

Yes, looks like it was hammered around a pin to form the eye and then welded up.At the other end the bar was upset and the mounting holes punched through.

Changed all my fluorescent tubes for LED today. Another "why didn't I do this a long time ago" moment.

Measured the light before and after in three different positions. The bottom row is before. Worst reading was on my work bench.

1m directly under reading is almost 580 Lux

Apart from 'misty buff' emulsion paint coming out of the sump what's wrong with the engine?

Not a lot but it’s losing its water into the oil. My initial thoughts were head gasket or slipped liners. Was hoping more for head gasket to be honest as liners are a nuisance.
Can’t find anything else where the water / oil are mixing.

Perkins A.420 it was called something else in the JCB. 1000 series I think

The head bolts can stretch, allowing water in that way.
Worse if they give and then some one re-tightens them. That just starts a chain reaction.
I can not recall if the in let manifold has a water port in it.
That can go and give a leak into the bores when cold.

The bottom one is just as the head came off

Thanks for the thoughts. There was no water port on the outside of the inlet manifold.

the bottom picture shows the oil / water mix right in the middle so not sure if that indicates something? The head gasket looked fine
