If I can hear the feedout wagon making a racket sitting in my office 2 paddocks a way, it is a sign something is wrong and you should stop, not carry on because "it is almost finished"...
It is an old machine and was basically a freebie to the sharemilker for fixing it up and drilling grass seed at his ex-bosses place. Next best to free Muggins here spend a day sorting it out, straightening out guides, getting the floor chains of the moving floor lined up and cooking up a seized sprocket wheel in the forge to free it up. Some new hydraulic hoses and it was running ok for a few weeks until it made a funny noise…
It takes 4T of silage and is much faster than the bale feeder and tractor forks. I think he missed it when it broke and my weekends were busy for 2 weeks.
One of the bars I had welded on one side befire before had broken and jammed. It had ripped of 3 of the cross bars, twisted and bent all the others and the chain had jumped the sprockets by a link or 2, twisting stuff even more. When I welded it before I only had the stick welder and it was blowing holes in things. This time I used the mig and it was fine enough the gas didn’t blow away, as my new welder with flux core hadn’t arrived in time. Cut out the broken ones and replaced, heated and bent the twisted ends with gas torch, crowbar and BFH, set the chains in line again and welded. Another days work. Fortunately with the lockdown, I had a free weekend at home I wasn't expecting...
Only a few fires from the sparks in the dried grass

Was in local dealers one spring and a tractor and baler arrive in, guy gets out and says his baler done a bearing the end of last season, could they get it changed and give it a service, dealer asked when he needed it back, oh we started mowing yesterday so will be baling tonight or tomorrow
