I‘ve looked around a year or two ago to see if anybody wanted to swap gearboxes, auto for manual, but had no luck.

I thought it about time to change the belt on the wood lathe I got from @Bladevane as I have put many happy hours on it and it looks original
Whilst I was there, I replaced the rear bearing as that too is original and has started to grumble

As you can see, the bearing was made in England so original from the 1970's

Especially when 90% of the drive is sitting in nose to tail, which happens annoyingly often in this country.

I'm not sure if it counts as fixing. I was given a petrol powered Belle mixer because it didn't run. I dumped the fuel from the carb and filter, made sure the fuel was flowing, squirted some petrol into the inlet tract and it runs. It's scabby but then they all are after builders had had them.

I've asked for an auto van this time round, doubt I'll get one but I had to ask!

I heard they have neen ordered to remove some of those stupid cycle lanes, for some reason, either they were illegal or against some regulation or other.

Some down here are being removed as the cyclist are not using them. They are still cycling in the area set aside for cars etc.

Find a nice 5/6 speed manual box (bmw rwd) and get/make an adapter up (see bmw's have there uses )

There are a few different well proven swaps around, I’ve seen them mentioned on the Scimitar web site. I’ll see how this autobox goes, but even then, I don’t see me doing a lot of miles in an open top hot rod in this country. I’ll probably sell it on when it is sorted and road legal.

Mazda 6 speed boxes are cheap and adaptor to Ford engines readily available . Ford type 9 boxes for the V6 look very similar to the diesel Sierra boxes which don’t have suitable ratios , both have the longer first motion shaft and deeper bell housing than the 4 cyl versions

I just googled a bit.... and soon realised I don’t have room for three pedals in this tiny little car.

I could possibly shave an inch or two off the transmission tunnel if the new bell housing was slimmer, but not a lot.
