All too often overlooked on engine conversions , makes for a horrid , rumbly and harsh driveline that knackers prop sliders and UJ`s.

That’s why I suggested getting digital angle gauges. Kinematic s relate the drive line angles for the propshafts to work correctly

35" Tyres, 3.54 diffs and 1.003 LT230 will get you in the ball park of 1800rpm at 70mph... riding the torque wave and cruising for best economy!
If you get the gearbox and transfer box levelled up and sat in the right place between the chassis rails the engine will be sat where it needs to be and will just need levelling fore and aft.

Even disco transfer box is ok

Our old cherry picker weighs about three ton and was proving too much for the 300 TDI so I fitted a 3.5 n/a Nissan engine. Thats a bit of a torque monster and pulls like a train, also happy to tick over all day running the pto hydraulics. Been in there for over ten years now and never missed a beat

Always fancied that conversion but export values put me off that’s why I started doing cummins conversions in 99 because in comparison the 6bt was valueless as it had no export value. Used to buy them off the Kenyans for £80

There’s a 6.6 v8 petrol defender skulking round Northamptonshire, I went to pull past it on the bike last year and he decided he wanted to be in front of me and just dropped me. I pulled up and had a chat with him he said it’s supercharged and has a fare few ponies

So, this weekend I had a bit of a down day and decided I needed to distract myself , so I got the engine and boxes coupled, and got it all levelled in the chassis. It’s within a degree of level front to back, sitting ever so slightly nose up.

Excitement came in the form of the leg of the Chinese engine crane I borrowed buckling and the whole lot starting to go over. Didn’t realise I could move that fast!

Don't know where they get that figure from but I wouldn't lift more than a 300tdi with mine and it's dodgey welding.

I used to make bolt in crossmembers for that day you need to do the clutch or handbrake!

with the trans mounts off the whole lot will lay down enough to clear the crossmember and be removed so I’m not too concerned. It’ll eventually get a dis handbrake for extra clearance but that’s not an issue that needs addressing right now

Doh! I've got one of those, heaviest it has lifted so far is the fat end of a Triumph 2000 lathe. I shall keep an eye on it, I don't think a 3 pot dexta engine will trouble it, hopefully...

I've got a 1t crane, usual Chinese stuff, lifted a Harrison M300 long bed with it at the 1/2t configuration. Was staying well clear of it and was only a lift, didn't attempt to move it on its castors

Having done my second engine swap in 6 weeks on the 110 this time using a chain hoist it's definitely the way forward, so much more controllable. And no shouting from @8ob to slow down - although that might have been because he was at the other end of the country
