Slow progress of late, it’s either been lashing it down or way to hot to work outside on it! Today however I managed to get the new clutch on:View attachment 246324
Purple line is a snazzy new hydraulic line for the clutch, hel performance do a great job and it was all of 30 quid

Transfer box is now on the bench, cable operated hi/lo shifter is from a discovery 2, plans are afoot for a air operated diff lock
Ashcroft do a full cable hi/lo/ diff lock lever but it’s 245 quidPurple for performance right?
Someone on a D2 fb group was selling electrical diff lock actuators but air operated is better
Ashcroft do a full cable hi/lo/ diff lock lever but it’s 245 quid
It’s been a while since I poked my head in here! Things are progressing slowly.
Had a major setback when the inlet filled with water in storage when we were moving house, seizing it on pot 4. A bore and sleeve has fixed that issue, and I took the chance to put a set of new big end shells in while I was in there as I found some NOS ones for 24 quid a set on eBay. Gearbox has been plaguing me for some time with a reluctance to find gears and almost hang between gears when in neutral, which leads me onto the next acquisition.....

A new gearbox which was being skipped at work. Never been fitted to a truck and immaculate besides a couple of dings where a student has used a screwdriver to split the casing
Box was split again to check all was well in the world, and while I was in there I machined the end casing ready for the conversion plate

It became apparent that the transfer box wasn’t going to cut the mustard on 1.003 ratio, so a 0.9 gear kit was sourced from Ashcroft transmissions, so next job once the engine is back together is to persuade them into the box.

With any luck she should come together a bit quicker now I have a barn to work in!
Not sure what you mean?Is it like the series where the transfer box needs drilling?
How convenientI got a run today in an SVR range rover sport , it was in for a dif module upgrade ,,, its amazing what a sportier engine dose to cheer things up , almost desirable , still 560 horses and a 0 to 60 under five seconds in a 2.3 ton rr has to be fun ........... till it breaks.
who gave the final command to put that box in the scrap bin mate? It’s been a while since I poked my head in here! Things are progressing slowly.

One balls up I’ve just discovered is that the new box, being one of the last off the line is a slight different ratio and therefore the pto unit I have won’t run off it. Sod’s law. Either need to find an alternate way to drive the winch or sack off the idea of a hydraulic winch, which I don’t really want to do
Higher ups, it had outstayed its welcome in the workshop and isn’t currentwho gave the final command to put that box in the scrap bin mate?
Not on the lt230 thankfullyMight not be the case with a defender but the Ashcroft transfer ratio change meant altering the cases.
Im not in again till thursday and i may take my phone to take some pics ,, actually the nicest part was the inside of the bonnet as its still unpainted carbon fiber being the carbon edition ,,, then again why bother do i need to verify anything to a shiny arsed wanna be ,.. dont think so , wind your neck in.
Hey dont be upsetting Parm until he has fed us...Cant say what a perplexed man can do to food involved in a theater of warIm not in again till thursday and i may take my phone to take some pics ,, actually the nicest part was the inside of the bonnet as its still unpainted carbon fiber being the carbon edition ,,, then again why bother do i need to verify anything to a shiny arsed wanna be ,.. dont think so , wind your neck in.
That will be mr steggel, I worked with him to sort it. Much better than the lashes together crap folks were selling beforeIt funny how Cummins landrover are so mainstream now
When I first put one in a landrover in the late nineties the landrover nerds were calling for me to be shot!
Used to get gear shifters from Ford F-350 trucks and I was pondering about making them. Quick google and someone has done it.
Story of my life!
