One issue I he is I had not planned on rendering the outside as I am cladding it all with shiplap. In fact the one side already has the shiplap cladding on as I cant get to that side now it's built. All but the last two courses as I am adding that cladding last. When I see where the gutter lies.LOL...when you have to wade through 6" right upto step height you start worrying. It will all dry out once the roof and gutters are on. Anything built without a cavity ie..single 4" walls can be a bitt un-nerving when water seeps through,as in my post further up you must make sure its well rendered and painted properely as thats your only defence against the weather without a cavity

ahh you will be fine then..dont forget a breathable membrane between the timber cladding and brickwork

no the under floor is a damp proof membrane (large sheet of plastic) to simpify...what you need for the cladding is something like this>> http://www.screwfix.com/p/ybs-roofe...light-breathable-membrane-grey-1m-x-50m/70075 waterproof but fully breathable so stop wet and dry rot as it allows movement of air between the timber and brick
Kin eck it ain't cheap this building lark. Another 30 quid to throw plastic under the concrete as well. Lol

after your insulation has gone in and before you board it up try using this stuff for extra insulation

it fits between the facia board and the wall of the building
what it allows is the moisture in the wood to evaporate but also has the added effect of allowing fresh air under the roof cooling the rafters instead of having damp air in the loft area of a building used mostly on cold roofs
id also do one better with the facia boards buy plastic facia boards looks a whole lot better

What I need to know is can I install kooltherm on the walls and then render on top of them or do I have to spend more money on plaster board to go on top of the kooltherm therm.
Second I have laid some DPM on the floor and wondered if it is any benefit to leave the 2 foot or so each side behind any insulation I put up.
Is insulation needed.

I have now got the Upvc as I had my grandson today so we went for a drive.
I have also got the vapour sheeting roll.
The EPDM is sitting on a pallet for delivery .
I am now desperate to get it covered so I can get the bolts in there to sort as it's proved impossible in the back room due to my trapped nerve.....so for anyone reading who is waiting for bolts.........I am hoping for a Monday shipment...........in the mean time I really would know what to do with the blank walks in the workshop.....
If anyone has a few mins could you read through the last couple of posts and confirm my next move.
On the bonus front I aquired some 12mm OSB today so I can clad the roof (underside) when I get cash for the insulation and get these bolts out of the way.

Actually blank walks are quite accurate. ..lol I keep looking at them walking round trying to work out what to do next. If it's going to need insulation on the walls I need to save up for it. I need to know if that kooltherm therm at 9 quid a sheet can be rendered straight onto it. Or can I use OSB and render onto that or do I need plaster board on top of the kooltherm .......so many questions and I guess there is no right way of doing things.....especially on a budget.

at this point id be considering 2 things get roof done and get a wood burner built at least you can be warm whatever the weather is

the osb board id paint in certain areas and others id use it more as a dull area somewhere where flash light was being used like a welder

I have picked these up today. 100 sheets of 12 mm OSB minimum size 16 x 48.
I can get loads more at 40 quid per 100 sheets.
This is the roof already on ....just waiting for the EPDM to be dropped off tommorow. I already have a few wood burners so all that is sorted.
It's just now time is tight and I need to get these bolts shifted and my doctor reckons it's the constant bending that is aggrivating my trapped nerve. The floor is nearly finished so my son will move the bolts for me at the weekend but I need to know where I am going with the inside walls.
I will have the plastic fascia fitted tommorow
and EPDM ON FRIDAY so just deciding how much the internal walls are going to cost to be insulated......if it's a lot it will have to wait as I need to get the bolts shifted .

To be accurate this stuff is not insulation, it is only heat reflective foil, which you already have on foam boards anyway. The bubble wrap core does not add much insulation value, why its there is a mystery to me.

before you fit the facia board have you anything that can do below the overhang if like osb board put that on first then do the facia board
is theres any lights going in them if so get them wired up before you cover the overhang area
id rather do the overhang board first then put the facia board on after its annoying the other way around
