Is it worth loosing 6 inches each side to create a cavity or as I am cladding mine with shiplap anyway to stick some insulation between the 4 inch block and shiplap.?So the Gyproc is standing up OK?
That's roughly where I was heading, batons to create a cavity,
5" too thin for blocks
could you build on the outside of the base ? if you can do your footings build up from there also not forgetting if the rear side is blocked off you could build in wood instead that would mean 3 sides in block
Well in front of base I had new path laid down so not really I shall post up photo tomorrow..
query here have you built your cement foundation with rebar or heavy wire mesh if not the answer is still no if you had of done then you could have used concrete blocks above sort like a floating foundation
so can you build at back of it and also at the sides the question im asking is can you dig lower at these 3 angles if yes there is a way to thicken up your slab under the shed at the front
or you can do it all the way around it
its called under pinning using concrete mix
http://construction.about.com/od/Wa...What-Is-Underpinning-Underpinning-Methods.htm
dig infront of your concrete base then dig 6" under your concrete slab sides then dig 6" under your concrete slab has to be done in 2 or 3 depending on length of your base
what this does is change your concrete slab to 11" deep thickness at the sides all around it therefore able to build with concrete blocks above it
Can't see any for 8 quid mate. For insulation, you can do lots worse than looking at http://www.secondsandco.co.uk/ This is, as the name suggests, the Kingspan 2nd grade insulation supplier. I've used 25mm Koolduct as insulation in my carport (bike shop) roof, 55' x 25' barn roof - both under box profile sheets. Never had a condensation issue. The Koolduct is supposedly higher density and insulation value than std Kingspan. I even used it to line out the inside of my garage behind the plasterboard when I converted it to a bedroom. You might get damaged edges or peeling foil, but at £8 per 8x4 sheet, I can live with that. They also deliver nationwide for about £30.

Apologies, I should have clarified, that was the last lot I bought earlier this year - didn't check prices again before posting info & I posted Koolduct when I should have said Kooltherm. I have used these as underfloor insulation also - no problem with crush load.
Now checked - Kooltherm £9.00/ 1.2x2.4 board http://www.secondsandco.co.uk/#!pro...il-tissue---20-23mm---1.2-x-2.4-m---kooltherm
This is the foil/tissue faced board. The foil/foil is £10 per board (+VAT).
