If you are worried about the cost of a front lens, you aren't pricing your work correctly...you are really clutching at straws now to desperately try and promote the brand you claim you have no affiliation to...u dont think esab made a big mistake using expensive front plates ? theres no good reason for it
Yesterday I was at my bench doing some welding ,,, newer speedglas , I really must say you have to try on a new mask , the new speedglas does not lift as high as the old one , and it gets annoying , I went back to the older version ,,, if your shopping and you weld sitting down make sure you try a mask on sitting down etc etc

Uh oh... argument as to why you are just plain wrong coming in 3... 2... 1...
theres no argument ,,, I sat with the two of them side by side yesterday , the new one does not rest over center on your head and is always trying to fall down , if you adjust the side bracket more so it sits over center its rest position is too high for bench welding ,,,, the older grey headband , the one you cant get as a replacement was way better but probably not as easy to fit an add flow to ,,,, anyways it was just to illustrate the point that you really need to try a mask in person rather than buy off line ..

yes optrel has the same problem. expensive front plates for no good reason. maybe its school kids designing the helmet and not proffesionals. in the field carbon gouging and flux core welding , the front plate needs replaced on a regular basis. over time it adds up to alot of extra money.
maybe optrel and esab are good only for delicate tig welding ?
