I want to use a heavy duty threaded rod and nut and what looks to be an ideal thread, which will withstand load and last, is the type used on the threaded rod of a vehicle Coil Spring Compressor.
I read online that it's an ACME Thread; what in the UK, I believe we call a Lead Thread or a Trapezoidal Thread but when I compare these threads online to the type used in the Coil Spring Compressor, they look totally different.
The ACME & Trapezoidal Thread is the type used in Scissor Jacks or Engineer Vices and considering Scissors Jacks and Vices can be bought in region of £20, ACME Threaded Rod is very expensive.
So, does anyone know where I can purchase Threaded Rod of the type used in a Coil Spring Compressor or know the name of such a thread; so I know what to ask or search for online and, which doesn't cost £67 for a metre.
