That parcel would have caused havoc with the parcel sorting machinery!

Years back I sent a bloke a load of tappet shims, individually wrapped in bubble wrap, in a padded envelope. I asked him to send back the ones he took out.
All I got back was a nicely ripped standard envelope.
I wonder how much damage the shims did to the letter sorting machines.

They were wrapped in loads of bubble wrap which in turn was in a fairly large cardboard box. I doubt there was much of a magnetic field outside the box.

I was glad of all the layers of plastic as yodel "delivered" it in the sense of "dumped it in a deep puddle near the door without bothering to ring the doorbell". We were both in the house at the time & only knew it was there when I got a "rate my delivery" email. Suffice to say I left a review.

wouldnt use engine flush on any of my vehicles ever. loosening any crap that sits there forever not doing any harm and shoving it through your engine wont do it much good

Can’t believe years old sludge in the sump and various corners and crevices should be left,they’re full of contaminants and can pollute subsequent oil changes as they mix with the new,after all ,you wouldn’t top up with even a small amount of it.

theres no need for it with modern oils with detergents in it manufacturers do not recommend it and void waranties if used

~I still have a container of flushing oil I bought aged 19 . . . still unopened, I'm now 55. I read the same info back then and it put me off. Never heard of any failure attributed to it, but still no desire to use it. Any engine I've had to pull apart has always seemed clean enough anyway. I suspect it falls under "snake oil" in reality.

You’ve obviously not stripped a poorly maintained Ford CVH engine, they suffered “Black Death” in a big way . One I changed an engine on had so much build up in the cam cover I couldn’t see anything other than the tops of the valve rockers. I think if the correct engine oil was used,and changed at a sensible mileage then flushing oil might have worked but if used when there was already a large build up then your asking for trouble. Hydraulic tappets often benefited from regular flushing . Modern engines don’t suffer because of the improved oils used these days

The important thing there is "poorly maintained".

I've only owned one CVH in an Reliant SS1 - rarely used, sold the engine when I scrapped it. But my old Triumph engines, and my xflows, always clean inside. As you say, modern oils. (Does 20 yr old Castrol GTX I bought on special from a supermarket count as "modern"?)

As far as I am aware Gtx is a detergent oil.

A local engine rebuilder recommended using diesel engine oil in everything. It has more detergents in it and it keeps the insides of the engine cleaner.

Did that once with an old nissan patrol 3,3L
Half a liter diesel ontop off the engine oil.

Motor was really clean after about ten minutes idling.

Especially if you have a sludge trap in the crank.

If so, it might explain their lack of response. Give them a chance and take a wider shot with the full thing in frame.

£145, screwfix had a sale on them and I had a voucher on the top.
Not exactly cheap and the genuine tapes are very pricey, but you can pick up clone tapes from aliexpress (until Rachel bans it) for a couple of quid, and they seem decent enough.

Wide variety of tapes and heatshrinks, and the auto cutter allows you to chain up labels to avoid too much wastage on the lead in.
Handy bit of kit, I've got a job coming up where a few hundred cables will need labelling up at both ends, so it will have paid for itself if that goes through.

I got one too, on the same deal.
The cutter is great.
It does patch panels perfectly, with the weird 4-module measuring stick thing, and sequences numbers/patterns perfectly.
Also does faceplates (dual rj45) nicely too, and the flag-labels for when you just have to label the cable itself.
I'm pleased with mine.
Prior to that I had the basic p-touch that I bought from Costco for £17.99 about 20 years ago.

Also, the tapes from Amazon are fine. 1/4 price of originals. Same goes for Brother laser printers (most of them).
