Back in 1984 at the governments local Skill Centre doing a 38 week full time course in industrial electronic testing and servicing I got my Rockwell AIM 65 to run my machine code attempt :- a massive long loud farting noise followed by the opening bars of the national anthem ..not bad for someone who discovered he was dyslexic a few years earlier .When I did my degree (after doing an Onc and HNC, yes the long, hard way), microprocessor systems was writing machine code on some 8080 machines - load HX 029, MOV HX regA, etc, etc. Well after we'd done some basic stuff, flashing lights, timers etc we were given an assignment to write some code to make a tune. After hours and hours of trying various means nobody was getting anywhere, but I noticed the lecturer had started loading (laboriously because there was a lot of it) a successful effort into one of the machines with one of the students. So I sat down next to them and copied each instruction.
When I got home I worked out how it was done (register indirect addressing for anyone interested), and simply made up the bit I'd missed, changed the timers to give different notes and the next week loaded my effort. Of course it didn't work right away but didn't take long to debug, and before long I had La cucacha on repeat. The tutor was adamant I hadn't written it, and in some ways he was right, but imitation is the highest form of flattery, and why are invent the wheel?

A rod for my own back.
I dropped in my ex's parents who live next door but one on the way back from the bank on Friday.
Have a chat, cup of tea etc as her dad doesn't get out much with decreasing mobility.
He was busy on line renewing his blue badge.
Let him to it. Got a phone call a bit later - struggling to work out what and how to upload with the info they required.
Back down, sorted it, application submitted.
Get a phone call today, they've had an email wanting more info . . . Sounded like all the info we'd already submitted.
Back down - it's an auto reply email from the submission, just saying if you havent sent in proof of address, I'd, a photo etc, then you need to.
Two worried OAPs quickly de-worried.
Thing is, they've got two sons and a daughter, two of which live pretty close . . .
None of whom seem to be taking notice of the fact their small, elderly mum is struggling to lift their dads mobility scooter into the boot of their car . . .or that they really ought to be sorting LPAs for them.
Do they weld easy in situ? Or do I have to remove the ring to tack with the tig?A modified No.12. Just found it been missing for a while

"Got any bread, Mister?"
Man is asleep in his narrow boat and is awoken by a persistent tapping on the hull.
Open the hatch and there is a duck tapping on the hull who asks him "Got any bread, Mister?"
"No!" the man shouts and slams the hatch.
Duck keeps on tapping on the hull.
"Go Away or I will shoot you!" the man shouts at the duck.
Duck keeps on tapping on the hull.
Man slams the hatch open and the duck asks him "Got a gun Mister?"
"No!" the man shouts and slams the hatch.

I'm always impressed with not only how much of a range of products they have but also how many variants of the same tool they have. As simple combi drill comes in about 9 different types. even specialist items like the portaband comes in 4 variants!I have so much Makita kit it silly, but its so handy as i have about 10 batteries, so always have a few full charged available at any time,
This is quite heavy for its size but looks very well made, the reviews say it will only realistically cut up to about 6" but that's plenty for most Pollarding & limbing will be doing round the garden & up the woods.

Had a mains 14 " ( IIRC B&Q's green brand ) way back in 1993 , cut down 90 trees with girths off 15 inches to 40 inches to landscape my land , everything cut in metre lengths then stacked in 1 m high piles sheeted & weighted for 18 month .Because im getting to old to pull start the 440 at the top of a tree or wobbling about on a ladder.
